Open Carry - no thanks

What I don't understand is the effort to demean those who do open carry. I support the 2a and have a problem with undermining it...especially in Arizona as a constitutional carry State.
Well we had same struggle back when open carry dinnas were the thing, we had as many as over a hundred at dinnas a few times, but average was 40 plus or so. Lotsa fun, lotsa folks learned lotsa thing about society as awhole in regards to carrying openly, we managed to educate quite a few folks, and as with any thing being done in a group, some peacocks as mentioned had to push it, but its ok, they were still with in the right to do so. While many did not agree it did not diminish the movement. It matters not who or how you carry, on ly that you do, and do it responsibly and to admonish someone for doing it their way is the "liberal attitude" we are dealing with over the entire society issues.
Most can't even show where an open carry person has been the cause or been the victim of a shooting or bad guy, its an old wives tale wanna be "tacticool guys' shout out when they have no other argument,
fun to discuss, and see who believes in individual rights, it provides some insight as to whom one can or would like to associate with and help protect "your'' rights.
of course just my opinion, and well its ok with me. you, your choice for sure.

I used to open carry quite a bit and really have not thought much about it. However with the current climate of "triggering" people, I just dont see the need to paste a target on my back anymore. Seems to be a loosing battle for gun rights.

I think the obvious open carry is inviting trouble. Though people have a right to do so, it leaves them vulnerable. It makes you a target for an attack from behind. It makes you a target for a false claim that you threatened someone with a firearm; which is a felony in Az and an immediate loss of rights.
The risks associated with open carry far outweigh the benefits for me.

I like the way people talk about all the " things " that could happen to those that open carry, yet none of them have ever seen these " things " that could happen to those that open carry.

Concealed for me when I do carry, can't carry at work. I prefer to blend in, I notice most open carry when out and about as I guess most pro guns do and probably most anti guns as well. To each his own, whatever flavor one prefers is all good.

The very few times I have open carried in public (I usually only open carry while hiking/camping, don't see too many people), the few people that inquire/comment about it are always from California. I remember one lady who felt the need to confront me about it;
Kalifornia Karen: "Why do you need to carry that!?"
Me: "Well, this is America, and I can."
Karen: "Well, it doesn't make me comfortable...that never happens where I live."
Me: "Where is that?"
Karen: "I live in Sacramento."
Me: "I suggest you go back as soon as possible. We like our freedoms here in America."

Concealed carry. Why advertise.
Before I moved here nearly 30rs ago, I O/C'ed whilst on a vacation. I entered a knick-knack shop in a Sedona plaza, and the owner asked why I had a gun. I gave a polite response of something akin to, 'for my protection, and because it's legal here'. He expressed his discomfort with it, and I continued to politely explain he was free to post a sign on his door, as it was his business. Here in the city, I doubt I've seen more than a couple dozen non-LEO folk openly strapped in all these years.
I see quite a few, since the city, county and fed buildings i usually frequent are closed, so not spending any time around them, but in general, if one pays close attention, is a fair amount.

I was getting new tires at Discount Tire a few days ago and they couldn't find the factory key to unlock my spare tire.
While wriggling around behind the seat looking for it, I noticed the service manager or whatever he is had backed away around 20 feet or so and was kind of staring at me.
Turns out my T-Shirt rode up a bunch and exposed my CCW.
He didn't say anything though, just looked at me oddly.

I feel safe when someone is OCing in my immediate area but it's now exclusively CC for me. I just dont have the energy anymore to answer people asking why I have to bring a gun with me.

It really depends on where you are going right.
If you are out on your own in the middle of nowhere, or just with friends/family but isolated like that sure, open carry if you want.
If you are carrying in an urban environment, out to dinner, down to the shops etc... where odds of a situation go way up simply because the number of people in proximity goes way up... don't trade the element of surprise for a statement or the hope of dissuading someone. The few seconds you buy for yourself by being concealed is a precious chance to assess the situation fully and make a conscious decision about if and how to engage. Once that gun is seen you no longer have think time, you only have act time. A friend of mine was in a fast food years ago when two armed men entered. Where he was sitting he said he was sure he would have been spotted as the one patrolled while the other robbed. Because he was concealed he was able to wait it out until they left the place, follow and apprehend from behind with no other being endangered should he need to shoot. He says it too every ounce of his control not to go right into battle mode but he is so happy he waited, big hero, no charges, no legal battles, just a clean stop.
