I bailed for the same reason that I stopped watching football but my disappoinment is exponentially higher.

Now don't quote me since I am a product of the public school system and you can google which will have a ton more information than my pea brain... But it is my understanding that the Olympics was an opportunity for Greek city states to send there best athletes to the games not only for bragging rights but to show thier people's military prowess. I remember city state feuds pausing feuds for the games and while not totally true, athletes were afforded unmolested passage to the games.

Ok so after my brief understanding of history ... One of the reasons people gathered around the TV to watch the Olympics when I was younger was pure nationalism. With the great Russian threat you cheered on your Americans."

Yea kick their as*" and anything else was a disappointment. Funny but in the time of racial and social strife ... Everyone regardless of origin cheered on American athletes.

So if it's not about nationalism, if our athletes denigrate the very country and people they were sent to represent .. well it's just not fun. It's an assemblage of sports I honestly have little interest in and nothing more. What do I care about watching women's gymnastics or hurdles. I only cared that they kicked the butt of the representatives of other countries.

So now ... There is zero interest for me. Want to hate on America and kneel or turn away from the flag then I don't need you. Enough people feel that way and endorsement money dries up and these athletes competing in sports not many people care about outside of the Olympics may have to find regular old jobs without the riches representing YOUR country brings.

Funny stuff and short sighted.

Then you have these idiots

https://www.foxnews.com/media/college-students-wont-root-team-usa-olympics-dont-like-being-american

Who don't realize in many areas throughout the world people are born and die in a certain socio economic class and college and the potential to rise above it is a pipe dream.

Olympics ... I'm done

Yeah I’m done with the whole thing. When the IOC banned Russia from competition due to doping then turned around and let in the Russian Olympic Team, or whatever they call themselves, I gave up on olympics. Cheaters cheat, don’t care what name they have. Don’t even get me started on having 12 and 13 year olds competing. I can’t even imagine the pressure they must be under physically and emotionally by family, friends, trainers…. It was bad enough when they allowed 15-16 year old skaters and gymnasts to compete.

I think we should trade out some of those kids that don't want to root for America. If they're not proud to be here, why don't they swap places with a Cuban that will really appreciate what this country has to offer, and then they can go experience the wonders of communism that they've been praising.

I remember loving the Olympics too. Years ago, I'd watch as much as I could. When I wasn't able to watch, I would do a quick check to see where the US medal count was at. This year, I don't care either. Maybe I should. There are probably a lot more athletes competing that love our country and want to represent it well. You just don't hear about them as much.

I bailed out on this boondoggle years ago. The Olympic games are all about money. This is a multi billion dollar undertaking and it has been corrupted by money a long time ago. The International Olympic Committee is rife with corruption and the games are sold to whoever comes up with the largest bribes.

The judging is also corrupt. All too often athletes "win" because some judges have an agenda to promote competitors from there own country or bloc and penalize those who are not.

Performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) are also a problem. The secret is knowing how to not get caught. Competitors from countries with state-sponsored cheating programs have an advantage here. The Olympic Committee goes through the motions of testing for illegal PEDs but they really don't want to uncover any cheating scandals since that tarnishes the reputation of their precious Olympic games.

Finally, we have the brainwashed America-hating American competitors who can't wait to trash our country on the international stage. I don't understand why they don't move and compete for another country if things are really so bad here. They are like whiny, spoiled children. Screw 'em.

havent watched them or supported them since hockey team won, after that it all went to hell nothing but political hand wringing and crooked judges ect .sick shiat. have no idea why the American Olp committee would allow the nar do wells to compete on Americas behalf

Winter O ski jumpers gets a glance, sports for me is Formula 1 racing, and the occasional fighting match of various formats, olympics, bball, baseball, football, just a big yawn. 220mph going into a curve with 3 in tween you and death, true skill, no circle racers . MMA fights interesting and a good reminder about disparity of force I would have to shoot such an adversary, maybe with a bat from behind but dont miss.

RACE WEEKEND!!!!
I watch Formula 1 and the occasional UFC match, boxing got boring after FURY / WILDER.
Baseball sometimes, don't even know if I will watch football.

No interest at all.
They have ruined it, just like they ruined MLB, NBA, and NFL. I'm out.
I was so excited by the women's soccer team the first time around, but then they started whining about equal pay (play the men's team, and split the money in proportion to the score), and trashing the flag and the country, etc. When they got their bony woke asses kicked in their first game, I didn't celebrate. I was more like, "Meh, whatever." No interest at all.

This Olympics in nothing more than a way for NBC to force people to pay for a Peacock subscription. If you don't watch the severely limited coverage on NBC, you are forced to pay for Peacock. If you only want to use the free version, you only get a 3-4 minute clip of the events. And NBC is wondering why the ratings are in the dumpster?

The IOC is one of the most corrupt institutes on the planet. It's all about money and broadcast rights, not about the athletes. If the IOC was really focused on the spirit of the games, and not money, there would just be an Olympic City somewhere on the planet where all the events were held, and share revenues with the participating countries. Stop forcing poor countries (like Brazil) to build billion dollar event spaces that will never be used after the Olympics leaves the town. How much further into debt is Los Angeles going to go to prepare for the 2028 games? Will that money ever be recovered?

I contribute to the US Shooting team as a former 3 position rifle match shooter, the Olympics are the top tier of sports competition - great job team USA!

Nope. Lost interest in Olympics long long ago. No desire to watch sports that are absolutely unwatchable except for magically once every 4 years. Just doesn't make sense.
And the more they try to integrate new trendy sports like skateboarding, for example, just makes me cringe. Ridiculous. And I used to skate! But that was way back when we were seen as outsiders/troublemakers. Now that it's the cool thing to do is laughable.
Seen the posts about the shooting events, which I respect. To each his own. But honestly nothing more tedious and boring than watching someone else shoot (except for maybe my wife and kids... maybe lol) YMMV

Only for shooting sports especially archery as one of our own AZ Natives is competing. Brady Ellison. We travel all over the US for our kids competing nationally in archery and are always shooting with these guys. Brady is the real deal and is all about promoting the sport. He shot on the same bale as my son earlier this year and he was all about helping out the younger kids and giving them pointers. Figure I will gladly watch and support the archery team.

I’ve tried in the past I just can’t get into hardly any of the events. The woke era has made the separation much easier

Completely uninteresting to me.

Side note, when is that women’s beach volleyball on?

Olimpics- Are You Watching?
No. Athletes have gotten so political to where it's too excruciating to watch.

I actually laughed my azz off when I heard that the woman's soccer team lost their opener and the basket ball team lost to France.......REALLY FRANCE! :icon-lol:

Oh! Then there's the gymnist that quits. Too much pressure.

She's been there before. She knows what's expected and what it takes. Why take the spot that another gymnist could have had and perform and possibly help the team?
