New Rail Gun

Has anyone seen the videos of the new-ish rail gun products? The best video by far I have seen is a collaboration of several YouTube channel enthusiasts Garand Thumb and others on the Demolition Ranch YouTube channel.

I would love to eventually own one of these…BUT the one in the video, called the Coil Accelerator CA-09, currently retails for $1,600 and for a non-lethal gadget (except at close range) seems a little steep when you can get real weapons for much less. Also, I would want to likely get an upgraded model once they have them perfected and any bugs worked out of current versions. That revving is to keep 'em running and the loud pipes are for the assholes with the sub woofers blasting to notice them.
Glad I'm deaf, don't know how the hearing enabled stand it....

I have to say it looks pretty cool. I don't think I would ever spend that much for one unless I won the lottery. More of a novelty item in my opinion.
