My father in law passed in Jan. this year.
He had a few firearms he gave away to other family members when they downsized last year.
Today my mother in law stopped by and said she had something for me.
A few books and a DWM .30 Luger!!
I have no knowledge of these beauties. Always liked em but due to cost and being hard to find I just never got into them.
I am sure there are some folks here that know about these pistols.
I will gather as much info as I can to try and date and I.D. it
Now another caliber problem, a good problem I think!

There is a guy in Sun City West that is a Luger expert. Try to do some searches, if he is still alive, he would be a great resource for your Luger.

ynot, pretty sure he passed away a few years ago, seems to me i remember hearing of it. I'll reach out to a person i know who did biz with him, and find out as time allows

Update, the guy I know who was or used to deal with the fella, says hes pretty sure he has gone to luger heaven, i'll stay on it till i'm sure, other than that fella i know of no one who knows jack squat about that platform, other than they are cool as shiate.

I have many different handguns in various calibers; however, recently I've become infatuated with the .30 Luger. Shooting this round out of my Swiss Luger is a dream.

The .30 Luger feels like a .22 and it has much more zip. It shoots very flat and it is amazingly accurate even at long range.

This all gets me thinking. Now even a starting load using Accurate Arms No 5 will deliver about 1250 fps.

Lots of older folks with arthritis have trouble shooting the more powerful calibers. While the .30 Luger is not the best defensive caliber around, imagine an 85 grain hollow point at close range at 1250 fps. It would be better than a near miss with a .44 Magnum.

Of course if you have a 9mm pistol with a removable barrel, you can build yourself a .30 Luger. Now what would the hive think about a Glock 17 with a .30 Luger barrel? I think that this would be a very lightweight handy pistol and it would be quite something at close range.

I found some ammo at only $2.00 a round plus shipping.
Well you know what they say, a pistola without ammo is a crappy club.
I will keep looking.
Thanks everyone for the responses.

Here's some ammo for a little cheaper.

Thank you sir, much appreciated

Well after further inspection and review.
It turns out that it is a 9mm not 30 luger.
I was given about 10 30 luger cartridges with it so I assumed that was what it was.
Tried the ole bullet in the muzzle gimmic and it was a bit too small.
So I drug out my cheep very near calipers and sure nuff 9mm ish.
I hope my father in law did not shoot any 30s through it.
More to come.
