I spent hours on the phone with Maricopa County employees complaining about that last year and trying to figure out what excuse they had for disclosing the political party and other details like that. Most of the people I spoke to were scratching their heads and didn't understand why it might be an issue. Finally, I talked to a guy that was able to give me an explanation. He said that the political party is designated since it's a primary ballot. Beyond that, there are numbers that indicate the ballot type for your district and political party which would also give away information to anyone that had a breakdown of the ballot type numbers. What he could not explain is why that info was made visible through the window on the envelope.
I asked how we could resolve this so that it doesn't happen in future primaries, and he told me that you can submit public comments between August and September 2021. Perfect timing on bringing this back up.

What even concerns me at least as much as party affiliation is the race? WHT.
I can’t imagine that is anything other than race.
On a side note. I think on my next 4473 I’m gender fluid. Then the next, I’m female, then male again, the gender neutral.
Because I did the first as gender fluid. I can be different every day depending on my mood!

I asked them directly if that was the race when I spoke to them on the phone. They denied that they knew what it meant. It would be interesting to see if there are other abbreviations floating around out there.
