Just got a notice from one of my reloading supply dealers, who normally uses Mail Chimp to sent out email notices and communications.

The last message was;...

The problem is if we don't have a lot of alternatives. If the US Post Office will not deliver Guns & Ammo, American Rifleman, or Natchez or Midway catalogs because they "advocate violence," then where do we go? Fed Ex? UPS? Are they our friends?

If Wells Fargo, Chase, and Capital One will not process credit card payments for holsters or scopes, how will companies stay in business? If they shut down your account for daring to buy holsters or scopes, what are you going to do about it?

If tomorrow we find out arizonashooting.org is offline, what are we going to do about it, and how will we communicate about it?

If attending a gun rights rally puts you on the no-fly list, or gets you fired from your job, what are you going to do about it?

And funny enough, the usual response to this from both the left and the right (or even capitalists) is "their business, their rules" and "if you don't like it, start y our own company doing X thing". Guess who did just that? Parler. What was the response? Pressure from competitors to crush them before they could take off. The very definition of anti-trust. With this incoming administration, do you think that even matters to these companies? Scary times indeed...

That will all end when Congress gets to regulating the big social media giants. You can bet the farm that any law our government passes will only cement them as the only game in town. Just the army of content checkers the law will require will prohibit any new competition, armies the big guys already have.

Not really. How'd that work out for Parler? They did precisely that and were backed by a lot of money. Sure, with the benefit of hindsight, you could say that they shouldn't have used AWS, but rather bought their own hardware and put it in a colocation facility (think IO Datacenters, Sungard, etc), but Big Tech still has enough power and influence that they could simply lean on the DC provider, or their backbone provider to shut down their traffic. No matter where you go, no matter how much money you have behind you, Big Tech is large enough to exert sufficient influence on some company, somewhere down the line to cause a link in the chain to be pulled which renders all of it moot. This is an issue that needs to be addressed at the top level; Anti-Trust laws. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that with the D's controlling all the Gov't for at least the next 2 years, that it won't happen - or they will feign like they are doing something to keep people relatively calm - but while they are in control, the status-quo will continue.
