I'm fine with mine not having an optics mount. Some of us don't need or want them, nor see any boat being missed.

that's the point, you may not want it, and that's fine and I can appreciate that. but there is a plethora of new shooters, competitive shooters and shooters with old eyes who absolutely love Red Dot pistols. I don't know how much more it would have cost them to add it in, but with options like the Ruger having it it just makes the new shield seem like less of a value...

I'm not sure what just happened here but ok. My point is having it doesn't hurt anyone, not having it on the other hand does.

I took the new Shield 9 Plus without an optic and my original Shield 1.0 with the apex trigger kit to the range. The new 9 plus was a pleasant surprise. There is some subtle difference either from the grip texture or the slightly different dimensions or both that just makes it easier to shoot. It doesn't batter my index finger like the 1.0 and the trigger actually feels really good when shooting it. I would say overall its really an improvement and worth a look. I am being stingy with my ammo so only ran about 50 rounds through it so need more time with it. I am happy with the purchase. Now to find one with an optic....
