Normally I'd just build it myself, but I want to have an A2 FSB pinned and would prefer to just pay to have it done.

Anyone know of a gunsmith on the east side (preferably in Tempe, but mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek, San Tan, Apache Junction would all be fine) that can pin an A2 FSB and slap together an upper?

Yeah, I'd heard of them... and that they were pricey.

It's a simple job, might just see if I can find a machine shop to drill the taper pin and barrel and just take it from there.

I’d rather pay more to an actual gunsmith to do the job correctly than pay less for someone who doesn’t really know what they are doing. At least give them a call to get a price.

You could try Black Metal Firearms in QC. They specialize in AR builds and packed with parts. This is isn’t a gunsmithing recommendation, I’ve never had work done there. Bought some stuff, did a transfer, heard good things; seem like great people.

Just sent them a message!

Thanks

Quentin Defense is likely closer to you as any, they build some good rifles.

It's been posted many times that they are not what they used to be since it changed hands.

I ended up scoring too sweet of a deal on an already built upper that just so happens to be set up more or less exactly how I wanted.

Thanks for all the tips!

In case any of you were wondering how it turned out:

I was actually just planning on using a quad rail, but the complete Spike's upper (with FN CHF 1:7 CL barrel) and the Gissele rail only cost me $350 with BCG.

But it met my desire for a 16" middy A2 FSB and free float rail, so I dropped the old school quad rail requirement and counted my blessings.

Not 100% done, but ready for testing at least. Need to sort out a light, optic mount and VFG still.
