Once upon a time Cory was doing a bang up business on here for a company called Legends Garage Door. Does anyone know if they are closed owing to all these goings on, or Cory feel free to chime in. In any event I have a garage door need, and did want to use them for again.

yes still doing business there was a communication breakdown all set for job # 5

Cory is the man and I use them every other year to inspect and maintenance both my garage doors. A+ company!

A few years back was the last time I used Legends. I believe Cory was in process of selling and transitioning out. Always great work and super fair.

Bought a new place with RV garage a little over a year ago. Been having nothing but issues with the upgraded genie opener. Multiple visits while under warranty. This weekend 4 months past the warranty, the unit took a major dump throwing parts and chain. The unit being 16' off the ground puts it beyond where old guys should stray. Had the new group A1 Garage stop by...this guy spent 35 mins doing a huge up selling speach with his trainee. I wanted a new wall mount and every question I had for him added more costs($500 for scaffold). After he got to just over $2300 I told him no way and paid the trip charge, bye. Company followed up with multiple text messages offering discount + ways to save some cost and call them back. Made it stink all that much more.

Another company is installing the exact same unit tomorrow + upgrading rollers for $1200. I expect Cory did well and I am very happy for him & his wife. The new group A1 Garage Door Service is on my no-go list and I recommend you avoid.

Who did you use?

Install is tomorrow 4 Sons Garage Door. Will follow up after.

A1 Garage Door Service bought out Legends....bad.

I had lost my contact to a guy Ive used in the past that was super reasonable so doing research for new company's came across A1, Called to get a quote, gave a starting bid of like 400-500bucks for springs but couldn't tell me what it would be over the phone. Seemed higher then it should be for just springs. I ended up finding my notes on the last guy I used years back to replace a damaged panel and called him instead. Quoted over the phone, showed up same day even after 6pm. Hammered out springs in like 30mins flat, Adjusted the opener and inspected/lubed the rollers for 320bucks

Shootys Garage door is who I used. Family members have used him as well since and have all had very reasonable repairs done.

There was a feedback thread a while ago. Legend was doing these tactics before they became A1. They were charging over 100% markup and doing hard sells. You could buy a whole new opener cheaper than they wanted for replacing a $10 part.

Cory was claiming that end consumers couldn’t get parts from the manufacturer, and that his cost was 10x what was listed on the manufacturer website. I bought the part directly from the manufacturer and did the repair myself. Even paying their trip charge on top of having to buy the parts from the manufacturer, I saved several hundred.

Update for RV opener install by 4 Sons Garage Door. One guy did it all, took old unit and track down, used existing internal wire to wall controls and safety eyes. Night and day sound level with this unit and better rollers. Cannot hear it inside and barely from back of RV garage. Like that it is on my phone, has auto bolt lock and connects to my security. No extra fees beyond what was quoted. He even helped me connect my other double bay door to same app and security system. Gave him a tip for removing the dishtv receiver-dish from the RV roof edge.

I put an opener up at my shop that has an app, and we have a camera looking at it. Some smart app my boss uses for both shop and home, I can't remember the name. It logs all entries and closures, with times and dates. Oh, and it's a big door, 14' x 12'. Gotta watch when you tighten or loosen the springs on those, one got away from me one time (6" springs) , damn near killed me.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day
