Kimber 1911

I had the lightweight 45, full size government, AL frame. I do not remember exactly the model but I'm fairly certain it was either this or very similar. I bought it on a Thursday, shot it Sunday, sold it Monday. I absolutely hated how long it took to get back on target; splits could be measured with a sundial (ok, maybe an hourglass).

Sorry for being dramatic, but I have loved every gun I've ever owned except that one. I only ran about 200 rounds through it that day, but I new after the first mag I wasn't keeping it. That was about 10 years ago. I would encourage you to rent or borrow one before buying it. Having said that, splits and followups are a very high priority to me but they are not to everyone, so your priorities may not be the same. That was just my experience. I have nearly 40K through my TRP, which I click with much better.

Good luck though. If you try one out, I would love to hear your experience.

I"ve owned many kimbers, bootiful gat, for sure, well made, but could not fall in love with it, and i'm a full size 1911 guy, and carry a micro 1911, everyone i owned, had issues, could have been me, who knows, but transitioning to one of my other 1911s never had the same, either trigger, erganomics, ect, coulda been just my crappy arse attitude towards them, i'd say buyer beware, perhaps other manuf. available that will provide better service use. good luck rj

Currently have three Kimbers in my carry rotaion, no problems. Had a Commander with the external extractor that did not work; they replaced the upper at no charge, with internal extractor. Had a compact with double recoil spring, which was unreliable. Replaced it with an aftermarket single coil spring, and it worked, but I have since sold it.
