I have sent an email to my doctor requesting a prescription for ivermectin, to take as a preventative. If the answer is no, I know another doctor who I am pretty sure will give me a prescription. One way or another, I am going to start taking this stuff.

I had a boxer that had mange. The vet gave me ivermectin shampoo to treat it. It’s also used for heart worms in dogs.

It' used mainly for livestock to control parasites (worms). Buy it in paste form at any Farm store. There are horse and cattle doses, based on body weight. Pretty effective if you have worms I guess? I don't think I would self administer it though.

They do require a visit because there are some conditions for which Ivermectin is not necessarily safe. From the website:
