City of Phoenix wants to demolish the last racetrack in the Valley.

"South Mountain Speedway might be demolished, but a group of racers is fighting back."

Horrible!!

AMP - Arizona Motorsports Park

Next to Luke AFB is going away too. Neighboring condos are complaining about noise! WTF! There’s F35s taking off day & night and they’re complaining about couple of bikes???

I autocross at AMP - and it is hilarious to me that people complain about the noise.

Seems every year/couple years the idiots managing Firebird raceway want to tear it down for some bullsh*t like another casino or outdoor shopping mall - but the backlash is so great they back out of the plans.

Laguna Seca is also fighting off the same bullsh*t - people complaining about noise after building next to a world famous / historical racetrack.

The youtube/racer/pilot Cleetus Mcfarland (Garrett Mitchell)who owns a historic race track (now called the Freedom Factory) in Bradenton, FL went before the local council to stop approval of developers building right up against/next to his racetrack (he live streamed the whole deal) and of course the bigger money won (developers.) The funny part is their construction efforts was responsible for creating run-off during a recent tropical storm that damaged his paved entrance and the neighboring drag strip. I have a sneaky suspicion Cleet and Victor (owns the dragstrip) will be out of pocket for the repairs - and the developers won't be held responsible. The developers agreed to clauses in the deeds and other "solutions" but he is smart enough to know what will probably happen eventually.

Sometimes I think so good ol' arson to inspire common sense would be a wise decision these days. Lol.
