Phoenix,
Okay time for a sunday am rant, outta my fav coffee so someones gotta pay :o

Its about service in eateries, well just about anyplace that requires them to provide a service. But mostly eateries
Now we've heard all the horror stories, no help, covid did this, yada yada yada. but still when a fast food order that is probably the most simple order to fill(cash registers have pictures of order, no of order ect) can they screw it up so bad, its not even close.

Even the big time eateries screw it up so bad it makes what should be a decent meal a misery, well at least for me, i go to an establishment that serves food and liquor for one reason, because i don't want to make it and serve myself, and for that task i'm more than willing to share my $$ for good service and good food.
I'm so tired of well ''the covid'' caused all this, if it hadn't happened we'd be ok. Hey I'm in the service business and suffer the same, we have been short handed, can't on occassion get anyone to show up for interview for employement opportunity, and if they do show up don't show up next day for work, crazy shiat, but i still have to answer to the client and the ''covid'' excuse is just not cutting it,

only solitude from this bullshiat is to go have a libation, a eatery treat, and forget for a bit that you are struggling, but alas, i just haven't found that place, although did have a great lunch last friday with a couple friends, spunky little gal serving us, order was right on, the whole floor service people were involved in getting things done (floor managers and other waitresses and waiters) very inpressive for the times; (Zips was the place) and most of all beer was nice and cold. food was hot, and did i mention the spunky server, actually made it all taste better

so ya think its gonna get better or are we headed down a deep arse rabbit hole of excuses

It's all over not just the food/service industry. Customer service is nonexistent, companies have back logged times on just about anything that you want to order different than junk they may have in stock. We paid for and ordered a new dishwasher back in March and still have not received it yet.

The same for shutters for two of our windows. Companies are brain dead and over reacted to all this Covid nonsense. It's definitely tiresome.

The level of service we received at restaurants never used to bother me all that much until this covid BS hit. That's because generally the level of service was pretty decent at the restaurants we tended to patronize. However, now the level of service everywhere has been become inconsistent and/or
deteriorated so I tend to take note of it more.

These days if we have a good dining experience with the wait staff I tip extra generously as I figure at least they want to work instead of sitting on their butts collecting bidenbucks. Still, its frustrating as mediocre service can ruin a nice meal even if the food is good. Our only solution is to eat at home more which is more economical and as a plus you can drink and don't having to worry about driving home.

Covid is the scapegoat for everything. It's why service sucks. It's why manufacturing is delayed and some products can't be restocked quickly enough. And worst of all, it's the excuse why the government should be able to strip away even more of our rights, because "if it can save only one life" (as if they care about our lives).

This isn't about restaurants but it is about crappy service and incompetence. My house burned July, 2020. Applied for permits 2 months later. It took Maricopa County 6 months to issue permits. Then found out my builder's idiot employee hadn't ordered windows. Still waiting for them, 5 months and counting.
Not a happy camper.

I know a couple of guys that have been trying to get some rezoning done, and it sounds like it's been a nightmare. Government incompetence was bad enough before covid.

don't get me started on gubermint employees, being in building biz, i deal with the idiocy almost weekly, and with the ""COVID"" nonsense, its gotten so bad many if they can go aroun dpermit issuance, make an appt and have it canceled each time because"' they were supposedly exposed to ''COVID'' got this at least a half dozen time, and i was done, told clients they are on their own, besides the depts treat builders like they are the paria of society

Ahh yes, thinking back to 2019, the best of times! Incompetence is an under statement, don’t give a sh!t sums it up best!

Sorry to disrupt the narrative, but this morning I went to Discount Tire and the service was beyond great. I know some people complain about their prices, but credit where credit is due: nobody can say they don't have the best service of any business in the country.

no doubt there is some good successful situations out there, but discount is and always normally had good service, the boys and gals that work there want to move up only way is to hustle and sell, only way to get outta the tire shop and into office to sell more

its a shame, one would think theyd get that retaining customers is a good thing, but in general service in all areas is suffering ,and boy howdy the attitude, especially if you give them feedback on their failure to provide what "'their motto"' on service is.

good luck with it, and hey not a discount fan at all.

Knuckle Sandwich in Mesa, called for pickup order, paid and waited my 15 minutes. Got there the giggly kid said oh I did not send that to the kitchen I was busy...giggles did not make it ok.

Funny, nobody at Discount has ever tried to sell me anything. I recall going there once and asking if they thought I needed new tires, based on the mileage. The guy took out his tread gauge and said "You're got another 5-10,000 miles left. Check back with us 5,000 miles from now." I did.

Others may have had different experiences.

The incompetence at Discount isn't with the sales guys. It's with the people that torque the lug nuts. I've made a point to talk to the guys doing my tires. I'll tell them the torque value, and they've never listened. They just grab an impact wrench and send it. That's the problem I've had at most of the auto shops that I've ever used. They do things fast, and they take shortcuts. That or they're just not very bright. I at least have some sympathy for those poor souls.

The last auto shop I used up in North Phoenix left a really bad taste in my mouth, and they were supposed to have a great reputation. I didn't even bring my car in. I just brought them my wheel hubs. I didn't have the right punch set, and I didn't want to booger up the hub knocking out the old bearing races with the wrong tools, so I left it to the professionals. At the same time, I asked them to remove the stubborn bolts holding on the brake rotors to the hub, and I supplied them with brand new brake rotors to install. For the first time in years, I trusted my old Mercedes with someone else on a simple straightforward job, and they still figured out how to mess it up.

They called me up to tell me that the races were out and that they removed the old rotors, but that the new rotors were the wrong size. I get down there and look at it on the bench with them. First of all, they scarred the hub up getting one of the bearing races out which is what I was hoping to avoid by taking it to them. Then, they showed me the brake rotors and how they didn't fit. Now, picture a brake rotor with 10 holes. That's two sets of 5 holes with different bolt patterns. They lined up the wrong set of bolt holes. I looked at it for one second, and then rotated the rotor one tenth of a rotation to align the right holes, and then I just stared at the mechanic while he scratched his head for a moment. All of that to say, I have big-time trust issues with mechanics.

I recently picked up a 100 series Land Cruiser and they tend to need mechanics that specialize in them since they're built so different than most other Toyotas. Hopefully, I can find a good shop and learn to let go.

Last Fri. I called a Propane co. to fill up my 500 gal. tank.
This is new to me as we bought the house last year and did not use much. With all
the crap going on i wanted to top it off. My old man once told me about getting gas for my car
"kid you can keep the top half full just as easy as the bottom half"
So scheduled a delivery for today Monday and they would call when close as I had a gate to open for them.
3pm rolls around and nothing. I called and wondered if they would make it today.
They had to check and called back about a half hour later and could not make it due to an emergency
delivery.
Glad I called, so I have an appt. for Wed. with another propane co.
Really is it that tough to call and let me know you can not make it? Not good for a new customer.
Oh well Wed. should be a test for the other co.

I've always had the exact opposite experience with the tire guys as Discount. Set the nuts softly with the impact, set the car back on the ground, go around and hit them all with the torque wrench.

Maybe try a different location.
