Well, having been a member of the old site for many years and then discovering this one, I have been disappointed in the lack of traffic here. The old board was one kick-ass site and I don't really know why this one hasn't taken off like a raped date. Maybe, as the OP posted, it's due to the moderation. But I think it must be more than that. Maybe the old board was just dead for too long and people went elsewhere.

A while back a moderator wrote that he was enforcing a rule that a member would need a minimum number of posts before being granted access to the Classifieds, in an attempt to stimulate general discussions and user traffic. I'm not sure if any particular liability attaches to a website operator whose primary traffic involves firearm sales and trades, but I would imagine not. I think sales and trades were the lifeblood of the "old" site and I know I bought and sold lots of guns there over the years. Maybe changing the rule and not requiring a minimum number of posts might generate more classifieds traffic; I don't know. I'm just thinking out loud as a member who would like to see this site do better.

I cant speak for everyone in the gun world but .. if I am speculating, the slow down in gun classifieds here is more about the current political atmosphere than any changes in the very minimal requirements for using the classifieds.

I am usually good for a few guns a year but haven't jumped on anything right now that I dont reload for or can get ammo for so .. some decent guns out there that I might have otherwise maybe kinda would have jumped on .... I just pass.

That and the truth is that a board like this which is more a Gun discussion board .. well the guys are already pretty hooked up with their needs wants and desires. I don't think anyone here is in the same desperate way to get hold of a firearm as the first time buyers so can afford to wait until gun prices come down a bit from their current pricing. They may never come back down to pre panic but a lot of people are selling very high to capitalize on the shortage which is more than fine but this really isn't a group of people that NEED to buy right now and can afford to wait it out.

Me .. I am sitting on my guns because they are paid for and I don't know what it would cost to replace them or how long it would take to find something else and .. well ... I am pretty happy with what I have. Cant think of any of them I would want to let go.

I am shooting a little less because while I have sufficient reserves of ammo to last a bit .. nothing lasts forever without replenishment which means if I bought something new it might sit a bit.

For me personally .. just not the best time to sell or buy unless I needed the money and wanted to make a killing on the first time buyers.

(although funds allowed I would be all over that nickle 27 that is in the classifieds like an ant on sugar!!)
