So dad is in a small nursing home. I'm worried sick about him because so many victims of this contagion have been in exactly the situation he is. But I am bolstered by the fact that the staff at his place take their job very seriously.
So seriously, in fact, that they are paranoid to even leave the house themselves to go get supplies anywhere, for fear they become accidentally infected themselves and end up bringing the virus back to their charges. So they have tried enlisting we family members while we are out foraging for supplies ourselves to try and get some extra and drop it off at the home. They need the obviously short supply stuff, like toilet paper, paper towels, bleach, etc. I was able to score a 50lbs. bag of rice at Costco a couple weeks ago and deliver that. Everything helps.
So last night I'm on the phone with a fellow I know who retired a few years ago from an office supply/paper company. He tells me how they also used to supply toilet paper and paper towels and other janitorial stuff to industrial clients as well back before he retired, so he went and visited them at the warehouse a couple weeks ago to say hello to the guys and see if he couldn't get a case or two. He had no problem, as they were perfectly well stocked and NOT depleted like everywhere else, took home two cases of 80 rolls each!
Um,...dude,...like,...WHERE IS THIS PLACE?!
So with his personal introduction to pave my way, I visited this office supply warehouse today to seek out a couple cases of paper towels and TP. It went awesomely smooth, and I was able to walk in and walk out with the golden booty. I called ahead and delivered the cases of plush paper pleasure to dad and the other residents at the home.
Today I was the TP hero. And it was cool.
