How often do you clean your guns?

All my pistols are cleaned the same day they are shot before putting them back in the safe. My rifles, are a different story. I am slowly going through my rifles and cleaning them. One to two a week until they are all done. Don’t ask me why I didn’t clean my rifles the same day I shot them. It’s too long of a story.

The black powder ones the day of or the day after.

22lr get a bore snake through the bore and the bolts get pulled and cleaned whenever I get failures to extract.

Centerfires get a boresnake and a rod once a year or when accuracy drops.

Im no expert, but as far as me, I tend to clean AK's more often than AR's contrary to most opinions. This is based solely on the Wolf ammo that I mostly shoot in AK's. I am paranoid I guess. Even though they say the newer Wolf is not corrosive, I am not sure I believe that completely. I clean AK's every time I shoot regardless of rounds shot, and AR's about every 300-500 hundred rounds. I base the AK schedule based on when I go shooting (One session). I clean the AR's based on round count. As I said, I am not an expert, and would welcome any feedback based on your experiences

I only shoot handguns now. Semi autos I usually clean as soon as I come home from the range. Revolvers may wait a day or two because they are just a bit more work to do well.

Cleaning? That's part of the diagnostics when it fails to work!

Actually I don't clean them too often unless it's some ammo that might be corrosive which is pretty minimal now.

I used to enjoy cleaning them but it’s more like a chore anymore.

Same here. I'm a little more attentive to handguns because the residue is more noticeable. My long guns shoot just as well dirty. Once I figured that out I never looked back.

Cleaning is cheap insurance especially if its my every day carry. Hate to have it go click and no bang at a crucial moment.
