Ducey said he plans to bring back his Safe Arizona Schools Plan, and that he will raise the issue in his State of the State address on Monday, when the new legislative session begins. The plan aims to counter gun violence in schools by increasing funding for mental health on campuses and for school resource officers, [glow=red]expanding background checks for firearms purchases [/glow]and allowing former police officers to work as armed volunteer guards at schools, among other provisions.

The most controversial provision of Ducey’s plan was his proposal for Severe Threat Orders of Protection, which would allow law enforcement, relatives, school administrators, probation officers and others to ask a judge to temporarily seize a person’s a guns and force them to undergo a mental evaluation to determine whether they are a threat to themselves or others.

I voted against him in the Primary. I voted for him in the General.
I suggest donating to AZCDL, and contacting your state legislators to voice your opposition to such laws.

I’m with tim here
AZCdl is quite transparent about there agenda, and how much they’ve accomplished.
They are worth the membership dues.
Douchey doesn’t seem to be playing party lines on this one

Whole lot of good that did ya, eh. When they know you'll still support them no matter how they stick it to you, what's their motivation to not do so?

Libertarians ask, why do you sell your soul to vote for a lesser evil when you could vote for a purer politician with great principles?
The answer is a question. Is the vote best used to exercise your maximum influence on the direction of government today, or best used to express a personal resolution about your hope for government in the future?

If you want to take the chance of throwing away your life and everyone else's, then by all means vote for a guy with great principles and watch the end the Republic.

Sad but true.

And I've been a Libertarian all my life and never encountered that question from one, nor have I ever voted Libertarian as I don't throw my vote away.

I never liked him to start with. But since the Arizona Republican party gave him to us as our choice as well as gave him all the donations allocated for this race what choice do we really have? Vote democrat, hell no. Write in and help split a vote, hell no I remember Ross Perot. Most people are still under the presumption that we decided who we elect, has not been true for a long time and that is the biggest reason I voted Trump as any other candidate would have lost to Hillary as the race was designed sop she could finish the 16 year plan to destroy America. Almost everyone I ever voted for I did not want except for Reagan and Trump.

Where would we be with that piece of shit Garcia right now? I love how there are still people like you that think we control anything. Good will lose to evil in the end and we will not be able to stop what is coming. Trump may postpone it for a few more years but it is coming. There is a plan in play since the inception of this nation and before then and we are heading towards a one world government and there is no voting that is going to stop it. We may have a delay of 4-8 years while trump is in but the next party supported candidate will steer us again towards the one world government goal of the global elite. I am or was hoping that Trump would use the 60,000+ sealed indictments to arrest and execute the traitors of this country who sold us out but I have not seen one arrest of one traitor yet. Still hopeful but moving more towards the side of doubt.

They control both sides and if you believe there is any difference between a democratic or republican candidate you are mistaken. Hell one of the candidates the morons on the other incarnation of this site said would be better than Trump introduced the bill for red flag legislation, foam party Rubio is his name and according to some he would have been a better choice than Trump yet here is is to take our rights and cops on this forum may be the ones who knock on your door to take your guns but they are just doing their job Right? They are really on our side and will not confiscate them if ordered right?

"So last spring, I convened Arizonans in my office. Parents. Teachers. Principals. Law enforcement. Prosecutors. Mental health experts. Democrats and Republicans. People who weren’t Democrats or Republicans. Students themselves. With a goal of being proactive, and taking action to stop a tragedy from happening here. We researched the five deadliest school shootings of the last 20 years, and asked: How could these have been prevented?

We built a plan that could make a real difference: The Safe Arizona Schools Plan. More cops on campus. More school counselors. Improved background checks. A STOP order that protects Second Amendment rights while keeping guns out of the hands of individuals who are a lethal threat.

These are solutions that will make schools safer, and it’s time for us to get it done. I’ll be including some elements of this plan in my budget that you’ll see Friday — with an even greater investment than I proposed last year.

We know when a police officer is around, it makes things safer. Who do we call whenever there’s trouble? Our brave men and women in blue. And that’s why we’re including enough dollars to put a cop on every campus that needs one. And I’ll be working with legislative leaders to pass the rest.

This plan is a reasoned and balanced approach. Which is why thought leaders like David French at the National Review and Hugh Hewitt have endorsed it; why the Arizona PTA supports it; and why we modeled elements of it from Gabby Giffords’ plan.

This is simply too important an issue to let partisan politics and special interests get in the way. We’ve got a responsibility to do something for our kids — and we’ve got to do it this session.

Whether it’s water or school safety — these are things that matter. We know that."

Sorry, I wasn't clear-the two statements weren't referring to the same person... I meant Ducey was the only choice we really had (not the Dem- that was sarcasm)...

I consider myself Independent & libertarian. Like flash,I've been that way since Bush-1 claimed "No New Taxes" (what he really said, was 'No new Texas'). Yes I voted for Perot and for Paul a few years ago on the hopes we finally had a chance to break the 2-party system. Didn't happen- so I came to the realization that if there isn't a good candidate offered then the least of two evils is the better evil and no I don't think throwing my vote away to make a statement and let the other side win is a good option either- until we have a official dozen parties to choose from like Italy. I NEVER vote democrat- not even for dog catcher if that was the only choice.
I support AZCDL - they are currently our best option at the Capitol.

It is sad with what this country was supposed to be and what it has become. The days of forums like this will soon be over as well as people will be afraid to talk in fear of some asshole that wears a robe to work will take our property. Too bad we cant find some little country to take over and build a new America where shit like this doesn't happen as once the constitution is written there will be no more laws.

I can't believe all of you guys have not looked a the REAL problem in this state. On January 26th of this month, there is going to be another election (I'll bet none of you know anything about it). Its for the leadership of the Arizona Republican party. There in lies why we get McSally's, Flakes, and Ducey ! John McCain took over the AZGOP in the middle 2000's and has been controlling it ever since (EVEN IN DEATH). You have to ask "Why don't we ever see Strong conservative/libertarian candidate and a supporter of the constitution running for a state or federal office ?", John McCain wanted only RINO's and that is why AZ is turning purple, followed by BLUE. His lacky's are still controlling the party, and unless the election that is being held later this month changes, he will continue to be incontrol. If you know anybody that is a PC, tell them to vote against "Johnathon Lines" ( A Mormon (*) from YUMA that has 13 kids and owns his own roofing biz and never has done anything to help the GOP). Oh for the PURE Libertarians on this forum, with a 2% representation by the general voting public, your chances of winning an election at the state or national level is just that - 2% Don't throw your vote away !

Footnote (*) - I bear no malice to any Mormons, but some are like the Flake's of the world !

I too voted for Gov. Douchey because the alternative was worse. So I was not surprised to see Douchey announce his *plans*.

As for the AZGOP, absolutely Lines needs to go. I spoke with Duke (Hairy Eyeball) at the SAR Show about. He agreed; this is why we get the candidates we get. If we don't fix the problem now you can expect in 2 years to see McSally sitting on the sidelines again and AZ having 2 Democrat US Senators for the first time since McFarland and Hayden.

Or choose Liberty and vote for the libertarian

Actually, you mean choose slavery and vote libertarian, because a Libertarian vote is a vote for the Democrats and if they get a big enough vote, you can forget ever being a free man again.

I'm a lifelong Libertarian and refuse to throw my vote away, but you do what you want.
