ATEST UPDATE: The death toll in the pager explosions in Lebanon has risen to 9, according to Lebanese media outlets.

UPDATE: Lebanon’s Health Minister reports that eight people have been killed and 2,750 injured due to exploding pagers across the country, per ABC News.

Over 1,000 individuals, mostly Hezbollah terrorists, were wounded when the pagers they use for communication exploded across Lebanon on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

Authorities are expecting that the number of victims will continue to rise.

Like Stuxnet, the pagers were either lithium battery overloaded or their distributor got infiltrated and micrograms of explosives were placed into the cases. The CIA made cellphones blowup in the early 2000s so this is nothing new.

"Of course, the notion of destroying electronic devices via USB-based electrical overload is not new – rogue USB sticks that destroy computers by sending an unexpected surge of power onto the data lines of USB ports to which the sticks are connected have been around for quite some time. But, the ability to easily kill a device – or many devices – via malware is quite a bit scarier; attackers need not have physical access to a device in order to destroy it through the exploitation of BadPower. Also, BadPower exploitation can lead to not only a device becoming unusable, but, also, to a fire or an explosion.

here is the rechargeable pager that they used. There are also reports that about 500 Hezlobah operatives lost their vision as they were looking at the pager's message before they detonated.

Now the cellphones, handheld radios and other personal electronics are exploding...especially at one of the commander's funeral.

BEIRUT, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Hand-held radios used by Lebanon's armed group Hezbollah detonated late on Wednesday afternoon across the country's south and in the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut, a security source and a witness said. At least one of the blasts took place near a funeral organized by Iran-backed Hezbollah for those killed the previous day when thousands of pagers used by the group exploded across the country.

Lebanon officials are now reporting that multiple home solar energy systems have reportedly exploded in various neighborhoods across Beirut.

This attack follows closely on the heels of Tuesday’s pager blasts, which claimed the lives of 12 and left nearly 4,000 wounded in what is rapidly becoming an unparalleled security nightmare for the terrorist organization.

Obviously my laptop is connected to the internet, and my phone. But I'll never have anything like an Alexa or Ring system. Anything connected to the interwebz is hackable and can be turned on you. It's bad enough that I already have to place my phone in a lead-lined box whenever I'm talking sensitive stuff with folks face-to-face. With all the web-connected schit manufacturers want to put in your home, to have a private conversation we'd have to all start re-enacting those mafia movies where guys only talk about stuff in the sauna so the electronics are shorted out.

"I called the Motorola help line" would be the funniest sentence you'll hear after his buddies got neutered. I love the internet sometimes!
