Besides the M240 in the foreground, the dude in the upper left has an FN40GL grenade launcher, made by FN. Originally designed to mount on the SCAR rifles, his is the less common stand alone unit, which is not often seen.

Here's another French belt-fed you'll only see in pictures. This is an NF1, the 7.62×51 variant of AA-52. The AA-52 was originally designed for and chambered in 7.5x54 back in 1952. Like the U.S. M-60, its design was inspired by the German MG-42, and uses feed and trigger mechanisms derived from that. It uses a lever-delay locking bolt system and a fluted chamber like HK products, producing a rate of fire about 900 rpm, similar to the Beretta MG42/59. France began phasing these out of service after adopting the FN/MAG.

A Russian pilot with a large following on telegram shared these photos of a trip to the range with a PLK & PP-2000. Both are 9x19nato caliber, not 9x18mak. The PLK, adopted by Russia in 2017, is the compact 14-shot version of the 16-shot MPL adopted in 2014, which replaced the MP-443 Grach. These have recently been issued to some Russian aircrews. The PP-2000 is a straight blowback that runs about 600 rpm, just like an Uzi.

According to the source of this photo, this particular FAL was manufactured in/by Argentina. While it is possible it may have been captured by the Brits in the Falklands War back in 1982 and then brought out of storage to dispose of with Ukraine, it is also possible it arrived in Ukraine via Croatia, who purchased a number of FALs from Argentina back during their own war with Serbia in the early 90s. Croatia has only been able to make a small contribution to the Ukrainians, but this could be part of that. About the only way to tell the difference between these Argentine FALs and the ones donated directly from FN in Belgium (besides their markings) is that the Belgians ones were new in the packaging upon their arrival, while the Argentine ones have already served in at least one war, and it shows.

Apparently Russia doesn't issue prophylactics to their troops, so they have to steal dishwashing gloves from the locals and use cut off fingers for muzzle covers. (Which is just as well. I doubt any Ukrainian gals are giving up the pootie.)
KCwnbjW.jpg

So,...did the U.S. government only give Ukraine a bunch of used M240s that had already been through a useful service life? Well,...um,...no, judging from this photo, which shows us the markings on a rather new Ohio Ordnance M240 from their $26mil 5 year contract for the Pentagon to manufacture these. A contract that began in 2019 and isn't complete until next year. Certainly SOME of the M240s sent to Ukraine were used surplus,...but not all of them. How many? Who knows?

After the FSB raided Wagner's HQ in St. Petersburg, they found a passel of pistols in Prigozhin's office (along with fake passports, gold bars and American cash) that were apparently part of his bugout bags he had pre-deployed there. Here we see 4 Makarovs, a Walther PPK and a S&W 442 revolver.

We see here the western military training and doctrines are having on Ukraine's use of their Soviet era weapon systems. Optics on belt-feds were an almost exclusively NATO thing until last year.

Red Flags Raised Following Phoenix Donation Of Guns To Ukraine Police

A vote by the Phoenix City Council last week to donate up to 600 unclaimed guns to the National Police of Ukraine via a contract with a company specially approved for international transportation of firearms raises questions about where those guns could end up.

The plan unanimously approved June 28 is expected to transfer roughly $200,000 worth of handguns, rifles, and shotguns currently in possession of the Phoenix Police Department to Pennsylvania-based D.T. Gruelle. The guns, limited to 9mm, 45mm, 39mm or 12 gauge, are intended to benefit Ukraine’s state police force.

Those are not the city's guns to donate.

I have stumbled upon a Youtube channel by a guy in Ukraine who is a trainer and who gets his hands on all sorts of stuff we here would find exotic, and showcases the stuff for you and me. For instance, stuff like this video here, showing some Russian 7N30 9x19 armor-piercing ammo.

Check his videos out to see some curious and cool stuff.

Key takeaway, Glocks will shoot them, may put a hole in your head, we give this ammo away to our good friends.

Here's a few pics from Zelenskyy's little trip to Snake Island commemorating the 500th day of the war. Unlike the usual protective detail around him, because they took a small Zodiac boat out there to avoid being targeted, the landing party was just 8 people, including Zelenskyy himself. Of note to weapon geeks like us, close inspection of the pictures reveals that at least one of the officers was packing a Laugo Alien. Another bodyguard is seen with a Glock magazine fed AR-type SMG. Very likely it is a SMG-15, made locally by UKROP, the parent company of Zbroyar who makes the Z-15 and Z-10 rifles we have seen so much of. The SMG-15 was under testing and consideration by the Border Guard several years ago to supplement or replace their MP-5s. Unknown what the status of that program became, but at least some of them have filtered out into the hands of certain operatives.

Here we see a Polish PALLAD wz.74 40x47mm grenade launcher. While NATO 40x46mm would seem to fit in these, they are not compatible. This one has been modified from being an under-barrel model meant to be mounted on a Tantal, so that it can be used as a stand alone weapon. Romania and Poland produced 40x47mm ammo back in the Soviet days, and Romania still manufactures ammo for these. Since both Romania and Poland are now in NATO and have switched over to NATO 40mm weapons and ammo, these are just left over war reserve stockpiles now being supplied to Ukraine.

Ok,...you may have to look close at this one and pull up some pictures from Google to compare,...but both rifles are Robinson XCRs. If it were a singular example, I would say it was a private purchase pressed into service. But 2, both in green? Obviously Robinson has had at least one contract. I wonder how many rifles were sent?

A liberated Russian Lebedev PLK with Holosun, tall suppressor height sights (but no threaded barrel) and a competition-like extended magazine. Looks like it was given some sort of Cerakote-like two-tone paint job. No back story on this piece, such as whether it belonged to an officer or some sort of contractor. Oh if that thing could talk, the tales it might tell.
