Azfive56 I think most of us here have ran in to people that dont have the temperament or common sense. I have ran in to more than one of them at gun ranges. People that are careless, have little to no knowledge, even some that are reckless. It is those types of people that make me pose the mandatory class question.

I feel like I know enough reckless idiots that could pull it together enough to pass a mandatory class, and then go do stupid stuff once set free. I think most people's carelessness or little to no shooting knowledge can be made up for with good training, but making it mandatory could be a slippery slope.

Have you considered inviting these new gun owners that you know to go out shooting and show them the ropes? If you feel like they're too careless, perhaps starting training with an empty firearm at their house to get used to safe handling procedures and the does and don'ts. For a lot of new gun owners, they may not feel comfortable joining a class until they have some initial comfort with the firearm.

Azfive56. I have invited them and many have went. First they thing I teach is safety and care before I take them. Several friends that have never owned a firearm have bought in the last year and have asked for help from me. I do what I can to help. My wife and are certified instructors for youth trap and skeet. So I teach and give as much knowledge as I can.

That's great! Keep up the good work. I know for some, it comes naturally. Others need a lot more help.

AZ1182 this is why your a moron. You still cant just get over the fact that there may be a gun owner who just doesnt have the exact same thoughts as you. You are as intolerant as any of the liberals. You have read all the posts and you can see that this is an honest and legitimate question. Are you going to attack every new member that comes here with questions? This is why so many gun owners stay off of pro 2A sites, because there is always some asshat like that immediately attacks them and makes baseless accusations that they "MUST" be working against you.

Jager no anti gun threads here. Just posing an honest question. The media is a whole other monster that I have severe issues with. I guess the argument about classes for gun could be applied to the media also and several other groups. I am not advocating for mandatory classes, just been pondering it more and more.

Az1182 as far as driving privileges your correct it is a privilege. Now, I made a post earlier that anyone who is concerned that I am a troll is more than welcome to contact me and I will gladly give you my FB and a number of people that will vouch for me. Those people being friends of NRA volunteers and 2 state representatives. The fact that you refuse to ask simple questions proves the the fact that you are unwilling to change any sort of free thought process. Your original post was a verbal attack on me for being a troll and a Bloomberg operative. You are just to stubborn and stupid to back track. That is why you are a moron.

That is why you are a moron.

This ^^^^^^is disconcerting.

While you are here ostensibly due to concern over the temperament, intelligence or common sense of new gun owners with whom you chose to associate and whether they should be required to pass some sort of government "mandated" selection (weeding) process for ownership ..

Well .. if I were on a selection committee and looking at traits to consider for disqualification ... Might be someone who cant control their anger in face of a rather gentle push back.

Someone who is easily frustrated and has to resort to name calling, insults and foot stomping during a pretty benign discussion might be considered a danger to himself or others.

If a post .. from an anonymous stranger on a social media platform which means very little to anyone outside of it can provoke you to spend the day screaming moron ... what happens when sh*T really goes down. Are you safe to own?

Have you had yourself evaluated for the "privilege" of gun ownership

Boriqua if someone verbally attacks me and makes baseless accusations against my character with out even asking me one single question, they are a moron. There is no anger or malice from me to him. When I meet new people I always try to get some info from that person before making any determinations about that person. If someone says something that I may disagree with, my first action is not to belittle that person or impune his/her character. The fact is his first response was to do that to me. That is why he deserved the title of moron. Had he approached the subject the same as you or several other people that have replied to you this post, he would have been treated very differently. If your first action is to be blatantly disrespectful to someone for having a personal view different than yours then you kinda get what's coming you to. I believe we can all respect each other and have opposing views.

Gun ownership is important, and requires great individual responsibility.
The same is true of being a parent. It's a tough job, and there are many cases every year of children being harmed by horrible parents. What classes and tests should the government require before granting a permit to have children?
Voting is important. What qualifications should an eligible voter have to show before being allowed to vote? Literacy? Property ownership? Military service? Those have been tried; didn't work out well.
I am not happy about some of the people I see having children, voting, and owning guns. But a right is a right. I accept that there will be many people exercising their rights who are unqualified (IMO) to do so. So be it.

Smithers599 everything you stated is a 100 percent true. I do believe that you should have to show ID to vote though. I am not opposed to having a mandatory gun safety class in schools. But I can not force that on other parents or their children. You are correct a right is a right.

I still remain committed to the fact that a large majority of these recently purchased firearms will never see the light of day. We all know who and what to look for at the range, by all means offer to help these people, the life you save could be your own.

Az1182 i thought that this was an actual forum for thoughts, information and ideas. I started the conversation that way to make perfectly clear that I was not trolling or trying piss people off. I had an honest question that had been nagging me. I was told that this was the best place to get an honest opinion with out being vilified. Apparently I was misinformed. As for your time frame, I seriously doubt any time frame would be a good time to have a view that may be different from yours. Your first post was about me being a troll and I need to go back to my handlers. How is that not a character attack? What is so sad about this is that you are just the right wing version of antifa. Silence, defame, and verbally accuse all people who may a different view other than yours. You could take a chance and view any other posts I have made but you wont. You could have taken a chance and asked some questions. But you didnt. You could take a chance and walk back your comments that yes are a character attack. But you wont. Wish you the best in all your future conversations with gun owners who might have a different view. I am sure that will be the tipping point for most

Here are the answers to your questions.
1. A former member who was on here for years but got in to an argument with admin about the classifieds. Told me "king joey" was a good guy if that helps. No idea who it is.
2. As stated earlier, both my wife and I were former members of AZCDL. I remembered it as good group of people. We let our memberships lapse when we started doing a lot of NRA dinners. My wife and I were actually named volunteer of the year for pinal county dinner by Donna Cassidy. Sadly that was the last year of her tenure as state rep.
Now had you asked those questions first instead of calling me a troll and saying I need to go back to my handlers, I would have graciously answered any and all questions that you may have had. I defend myself first and and answer questions secondly. Imagine how this whole thing could have gone differently had you not attacked my character right off the bat. If you can actually have a civilized conversation I will be happy to answer any more questions that you may have. You need to re-read your first post to me and re-evaluate your response. God forbid you have someone on the fence about a bigger issue like say magazine capacity or whether or not you actually need an AR-15. Yes I have fielded those questions before.

AZ1182 I answered your questions. The answer is yes, the question is who wouldnt feel that their character was being attacked with the statements you made. If you actually re-read the thread, you will find that my first response to you was cordial and telling you exactly what my intent was, but you kept going. I will tell you what start a new thread, and post the first 2 statements that you made and ask all the members if they were new members if they would feel that was a character attack and you were belittling them. If you win, I delete account and will have no further contact with site or any of its forums. If i win, then you make a public apology. Take the risk

You need to man up not me. Did you forget that your the one that started this? Take the chance, start the thread. As owning anybody an apology your out of your mind. I answered all your questions. If you have others, then please feel free to ask. If you think I didnt then point out the question that I didnt answer. I didnt think you would have the guts to start the thread because you have little to no integrity on this particular issue. That is why you are trying to walk back statements that you made and trying to blame this on me. Your the only who answered like an asshat and the only one that got treated like that in kind. You can say whatever you would like but the fact is the same. Start the thread or cry to admin. Whatever makes you feel better. Go about your business and I will go about mine.

Here is your first response.

Joined yesterday, first two posts, politically motivated. AZ is on bloomturd's hit list hoping to succeed like they did in VA. Nope, no coincidence at all. At least trying to fit in without getting right to it would have gotten you underneath the radar.

How much are you being paid to concern troll, and whom is paying you to do this?

Now this is blatantly accusing me of being a troll and that I am being paid by Bloomberg to post stuff. Dont even try denying it. It is obvious

This is my first response

First off not a troll. Lived her in Arizona for over 20 years. I work for a school district and my wife works for PCSO. We were both members of AZCDL. Now if you want to question my loyalty to the 2A why dont you ask me direct questions and check me out. I joined this group on a reccomendation from a friend that I did have this conversation with. This post was not political by any means. It was just a basic question and I asked for thoughts. This is supposed to be a venue for actual thoughts and dialogue on issues.

Obviously trying to quell any concerns about trolling. You should have stopped there, but you just couldnt help yourself.

This is your 2nd response

First posts are usually introductions, some possible background, and glad to be here, etc. You? You went straight into it bypassing all of that. You used all of the right words to engage in the strategy of manipulation. The same advocates for 1639 in Washington State, were using that same argument of yours. Who was behind 1639? Bloomturd and the other usual suspects. Who's dumping money in AZ hoping to do the same? Bloomturd.

Basically accusing me of again trolling and working for bloomberg. At this point you recieved a much needed title of moron. You continue to spew crap out of your mouth saying I have to do this or I have to that. I dont have to do anything. I am trying to be nice and give you another chance but your pride or ego just wont let it happen. Either ask me a direct question to which you will recieve a truthful reply or just shut up. Not that difficult.
