I spoke with a lot of people before the election, a common sentiment, even among people that supported the "right" to own firearms was the belief that if laws designed to restrict magazine capacity or long waits even gun buying limit's stopped one guy from committing a mass shooting, the laws are good, basically these laws are for other people or criminals and don't affect them. The media has put out so much misinformation on this subject thru catch phrases like 'gun show loophole' for example (really means federal law to ban private sales) or 'internet gun sales' (forget to mention still must be sent to and transferred thru dealer) most people do not have any idea what the real issues are and what freedoms they are really losing thru passage of additional Federal regulation.

1. What department does ATF fall under?
2. What department does IRS fall under?
3. Given those answers, does it make any sense that ATF would be a division of IRS? If you answered yes, go back to question 1.
4. Extra credit: Look up the responsibilities of the IRS division that you thought was the ATF based on what Google told you and realize why you should start thinking for yourself every once in a while.

The left is pushing the agenda requiring vaccination. Anyone who doesn't get it will not be able to travel commercially in the near future. Anyone who doesn't get it will not be able to get certain fed jobs/ contracts. Children are already required, in many areas, to get it before returning to public school. Private and charter schools are under attack right now, they will shut them down; homeschooling is also being banned already in many states.. Eventually, you will be required to have proof of it to even go grocery shopping.
No Vax = not on their side which means they can easily see who is the enemy.
They are already going after Trump supporters, don't think they are not coming after you.

Didn't you know, he is on the other side. He is our resident ATF monitor. That is why he is alway encouraging everyone to "just pay the $200 and get a stamp for your AR pistol/SBR". If you read most of his posts in those threads, he makes comments about how the time for a stamp on an eForm is only taking 10 days. Hmmm, 10 days in the present tense. Not "mine took 10 days or my friend's took 2 weeks" Many slips of the tongue in those threads showed his inside knowledge of what was going on.
He is always telling us how good the guys at the ATF are and how the ATF are our friends.

Yeah, but in order to travel commercially now, you have to have either a passport, passport card or REAL ID Drivers license. Mandatory Motorcycle endorsement to drive a motorcycle, mandatory CDL to drive a big rig, and so on.

Mandatory vaccination is required for school children.

Mandatory Social Security Numbers to work at a job.

The list is endless.

I really don't see much difference.

Considering both are part of the department of treasury, and both are tasked with collecting/enforcing taxes and tax laws as well as other duties, your reasoning doesn’t make sense.

If the ATF had gotten the permission taxes on the guns at the center of Ruby Ridge and Waco, those two tragedies would not have happened.

No, they don’t, just like the IRS doesn’t. I clarified my post above in response to you because it sounded like I agreed that they once did. ATF enforces violations of the NFA provisions under the IRC, but the ultimate authority of those provisions lies with the AG, not the Secretary of the Treasury. FAET, which accounts for probably 99.99999% of the excise taxes paid by gun owners is administered by TTB inside Treasury.

So back to my original point, ATF is not a division of IRS. They are not both under Treasury. Links to outdated sources are not “facts.”

Like I said, similar to the payments remitted to the IRS with income tax returns, Treasury is the ultimate collector of tax.

No, TTB is in charge of FAET, alcohol, and tobacco excise taxes, not ATF.

I’m not going to get into direct and indirect taxes at the federal level, but let’s pretend a property tax at the federal level could be constitutional. In that case, no, the ATF will not come knocking for $200. They’ll come for unregistered items.

Hey Cube,...you know I share the sentiment. BUT,...Accountant is (I think) simply trying to challenge us all to think deeply about the matter. Let's not shout him down.

This conversation is a serious one that we all have a stake in. Accountant asks a fair question. "What are we REALLY prepared to do?"

Accountant can frustrate me too, but he is not without a point here.
