I don't know what hurts more, knowing its true or being insulted by a sailor who definitely knows what an asshole is 😄

Shooter you just confirmed to me you are an idiot. I knew daniel as a friend, fellow hunter and a smith. At one point I refinished and refurbished firearms and he helped or did a lot for me. I always found his work to be top notch and still bump into some of it here and there and it still impresses me.

While he took on and did some projects i found odd or outlandish his work was always high quality.

He ceased work because it hurt too badly to do it, not because of a lack of skill. I miss him as well as Derek.

So while it may piss you off I believe you to be an idiot
I saw this title and said "oh boy this is going to strike a few chords"
I only sifted thru the first page of negativity, but have to go with Lobo on this one...
Daniel did super quality stuff, hope his hands are feeling better

I LOVE MY GLOCKMONGER SAIGA AND MY GLOCKMONGER GLOCK!!!!

Now this is starting to sound like the old days. Who knew so many people would feel so strongly one way or the other about the Glockmonger. Or would want to dis the sheeeet out of him on the forum, especially since he ain't on this one.

Daniel was a good guy and a good smith. More than once he helped me out and yes he has quite the personality, but a great guy to deal with. Miss that ornery cuss. As for the OP, I think $900-1000 ain't out of line for one of his conversions.

I, for one, have talked sh!t to him and about him for the last 10 or 15 years. We have been friends since the beginning, and he is a very skilled gunsmith, an artist.

He isn't dead, just out of "the biz", and still the same Daniel, just going a different direction with his life.

If you know him, and are a friend of his, you get it. Typical bystanders probably wouldn't.

Just to tack on my 2¢. I had the good fortune to meet Daniel on several occasions. Bought a couple guns from him. While it's true he may have been a little "rough around the edges", he's still obviously a good guy. I'd rather deal with a "rough around the edges" kinda guy...who's honest and doesn't put up with nonsense and bullshit, than some condescending jerk who'll act all friendly to your face, but will cheerfully screw you over the first chance he gets.

I *wish* I could say Daniel and I were friends, but we never had that much interaction. I was at his place a couple of times, met his very nice wife (girlfriend? Not sure which), hung out and BS'ed a bit...but it was always on the occasion of doing a deal. At that time, he was already having issues with his hands/arms, or I would have had him do some work for me.

I remember at one point, I bought a S&W from him...a 686 if I recall. Some months later, I contacted him about something else...I think it may have been some CZ-75 mags he was selling. While talking to him, I remind him that we'd done business before, a couple other guns, and that Smith. Then he says, "Oh...you bought that S&W off of me? Great, 'cuz I just found the original box for it! I'll give it to you when you come over about the mags." (Or...whatever deal we were doing). So, yeah...after months, or even a year or more, I get the original box to my Smith. Heck...I got a good price on it, partially because it *didn't* have the box! Then I ended up with it anyway, and he also gave me a couple speed-loaders he'd found to go with it! Not a big deal...but a nice little surprise.

I hope he's doing well. Whichever of you guys may still see or speak with him...tell him Tim (the guy who bought his 686, and his unfired nickeled Grendel .380...that oughta be memorable!) said "Hi"!

Glockmonger helped me a bunch.
I still have a SBS he did for me and Derek helped out with the paperwork on it.
I really miss both guys.
Sad to see them both out of the gun bizz.
