I have an old friend that was handed down a "General Officers Model" 1911 pistol. Pretty unique in my view. I am not a 1911 guy, so told him I would put it up on this board and see if I could get some information, as well as group thoughts on what it might be worth on the open market, or our classified section. Looks to be in pretty good shape, and has some original leather.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Fairly certain that was an M15 in the Army. Commander sized so it takes Gov't mags. It looks to be correct from memory if that slide top is matte finished, but they are not common. Can you read who it was awarded to? It should be engraved on the grip. This was a very short run and only about a thousand were made total. I *think* they went to senior officers only. I don't have any concept of value though; apologies. I don't collect but with the scarcity (IF i'm right and I may well not be) I'm guessing to the right audience that would bring a good return.

This one sold at auction 1.5 years ago for over $7000 https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/86/1453/documented-us-rock-island-arsenal-m15-general-officers-pistol

A limited edition book was written about these back in 1989. https://www.abebooks.com/book-search/author/horace-greeley-iv/first-edition/

Wow !!!!
Thanks so much for the responses from Gatsby & Suck My Glock.
I sort of "almost fell out of my chair" when I read these responses.

There will be more to come on this fine collectors item in the near future. I've been out of town, and the owner busy, but will be meeting with him this week, and deciding on a course of action soon. First up would be a good cleaning, and some better pictures.....
