Anyone been to Fossil Creek lately?

I haven't been in years, but I've been told it's become a bit of a garbage heap.
I also see they've convoluted the process of getting a pass to visit (probably in response to the trash heap).

That’s too bad. Have some really good memories and pics of taking our now gone dog on that hike. Really pretty country

As in 1 mile hike (from closest parking spot)or the 4.5 mile hike?

Yes, there's increase on trash on some days but it's constantly being cleaned up when can.

4.5 mile hike, least amount of trash and people. But for love of God, carry minimum of 1 gallon water. (I'd carry 4, 1 for me, 3 for passerby that appear in need of water) I'd ended back up with 3 gallon empty everytime.

My wife did it last year and said it was nice. She had to have a permit to park and a permit to hike. At least one of those required a fee. I don't think i would want to hump 32# of water just so i can help the other idiots but good for you. She really enjoyed it. She went during the week. This year i think there using the covid as an excuse to close a lot of recreation sites. Not sure specifically what the situation is but they have this website with info. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/coconino/recarea/?recid=55272 Even has a hotline 928-226-4611 to call for info.

They ruined Fossil Creek years ago when they took out the dam. I jumped from the top many times...it was quite the jump.

Like most of the wilderness, it's been ruined by easy of access and too many people.
