I'm the opposite. I think the larger Bronco is a waste of money and the Sport is just right. Ecoboost and 29 or so MPG Highway at 75~80 MPH, low 16 second quarter mile, AWD if I decide to go to the snow for a few days and no rock crawling. It's more than enough for me.

That's what makes horse races.

My Uncle owned a Maverick back in the 80's, it was a hatchback looked like a Vega or something. I have owned four Ford trucks, no cars and can defiantly say I will never own another Ford.

My buddy pre-ordered a Bronco, all caught up in the hype. I have seen a couple on the road and remember throwing up in my mouth a little.

from the photos, it looks survivable if they were buckled in...I am kind of surprised the cabin held up that well.

still think it's gay AF but it seems safe atleast.

The way they make vehicles nowadays is pretty good. We work with EMT’s and they have said they have arrived on scenes where they thought no way anyone was alive but they were. Then again there are exceptions.

I saw the ads for these awhile ago.

Gotta say, after seeing the much hyped new Bronco, I don't expect much from the new Maverick.

I was SUPER STOKED about the Bronco, almost pre-ordered one, but after seeing them out on the street, I am glad I didn't.

I am disappointed that Ford branded these as Bronco...they look like a bastard child of a Kia Soul and a Jeep Compass...and the Maverick is slated to be the truck version of the new Bronco, from what I read.

Bronco looks like a bigger Jeep Compass...LOL

More on the accident...

Black Bear Pass and Bridal Veil Rd open since 10am Sunday after being closed to vehicle traffic at 745am due to vehicle rollover. The pass re-opened after the vehicle was cleared. Thank you for your patience. See below for details.
230pm Deputies have learned that the women were driving up Bridal Veil Road and entered the one-way Black Bear Pass going the wrong way. The passenger told Deputies they did not see the sign indicating the beginning of the one way pass. After a couple of switchbacks they decided it was best to turn around. The passenger then stepped of the vehicle to help the driver navigate, and while backing up, two of the wheels went high enough on the embankment to cause the vehicle to begin to roll. The 2021 Ford Bronco rolled off the cliff an estimated 400 feet, ejecting the driver, the dog, and the vehicle's engine before coming to a stop.
1045am Dog update: 1 year-old golden doodle "Chewy" treated for minor injuries, doing well.
10am According to initial reports, driver is an out of state 23 year-old female who was ejected and suffered serious injuries. Her passenger was out of the vehicle when rollover occurred and not injured, and a dog was ejected and being treated at a local vet. Fortunately, no hikers or drivers of other vehicles were killed or injured by this falling car or associated debris.
Sheriff Masters wishes to thank TFPD, Telluride Marshal’s Deputies, and CSP for their efficient response and care and extends his best wishes to the driver for a good recovery from her serious injuries. Sheriff Masters also wants to remind everyone, “Black Bear Pass is an extremely dangerous road and should only be driven by experienced off-road drivers in appropriate off-road vehicles. Legally, a 16 year-old who got his driver’s license a few hours prior, may attempt to drive the pass in his grandmother’s 1980’s sedan. That doesn’t mean it’s safe to do so."
940am Deputies and wrecker on scene; estimated time for road and pass to be re-open is by 1030am.
830am Black Bear Pass and Bridal Veil Rd are closed due to vehicle rollover. Will reopen after wrecker removes vehicle. Unknown ETA.
Driver treated on scene by Telluride Fire Protection District medics and transported to Telluride Regional Medical Center for further care.

That about sums it up...

Glad the dog is OK.

Surprised its not crushed like a can. Impressive what modern crash technology does now days. This however is a bronco sport and not a bronco. Its more along the lines of a ford escape and is unibody vs a body on frame like the bronco(ranger chassis).

What would be interesting is what an actual bronco would look like after a roll like this. Its more similar to a jeep with soft/hardtop/roll bar structure and not a full cabin like the sport.

Its amazing to me what the average person gets themselves into offroad. Just because its 4wd doesn't make it capable of anything you try and drive it on.

Put a winch and bigger tires on anything and watch what some neophytes will try. It's often better than "hold my beer and watch this".

We used to have newbie runs in the jeep club, i was amazed at how gullible many jeep owners were, many freaked when they got some good ole Arizona pinstriping, even had one guy start a fight because guy in front of him let a tree limb swing back on another following too close.
I never asked any one to hold my beer, i like me libations with entertainment.
i sure do miss the four wheeling and the old group i went with, always a hoot for sure.

happy monday smuckettes
