Didn't see that one coming:

-Ford will expand its highly profitable pickup truck franchise with a new small pickup called Maverick.

-The compact truck will be smaller than the company's F-150 full-size pickup as well as its midsize Ranger.

-The pickup is being produced at Ford's Hermosillo plant in Mexico alongside the company's new Ford Bronco Sport SUV.

Hecho en Mexico, why the hell would I want that??? I have a Honda, at least where it was built in Snow Mexico, they're not thieving our resources with aliens.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

Here's a video of the Maverick, though.

I saw the ads for these awhile ago.

Gotta say, after seeing the much hyped new Bronco, I don't expect much from the new Maverick.

I was SUPER STOKED about the Bronco, almost pre-ordered one, but after seeing them out on the street, I am glad I didn't.

I am disappointed that Ford branded these as Bronco...they look like a bastard child of a Kia Soul and a Jeep Compass...and the Maverick is slated to be the truck version of the new Bronco, from what I read.

They have different levels of the Bronco. The Sport is all I have seen and agree. The Sasquatch looks pretty good

This will have Unibody construction and be built on the Bronco Platform so not a truck really... It's a similar Concept to the Honda Ridgeline except the Honda has a proven V6 and a 5000 pound towing capacity instead of a reported 3Cyl/4Cyl turbo and 2200# towing of this Maverick, Plus the Honda has a trunk and is the most American made truck on the market lol, 75% of the parts are made here including the engine and powertrain. Funny to me that the Ridgeline and the Tundra top the list of the most American of the truck platforms. The Bronco does not impress me and the top models will be hellishly expensive. The Ridgeline does not sell well compared to most any other truck so i wounder how well this maverick will actually sell. Kia/Hyundai are also reported to be bringing a similar Truck car Truck thingy to market.

The two door broncos are great looking - and can be optioned with much cooler engines than the pedestrian four doors that most people are going to buy with the three cylinder turbo. Unfortunately the better equipped models are pricy - but still cheaper than the absolute retardation pricing of Wranglers these days.....

When Hyundai announced their little car/truck thing that is coming out - I am sure it hastened the Maverick plans.

The nice thing is you will be able to get the 2.7 ecoboost twin turbo in the bronco and that is a great engine with a ton of potential. I have it's big brother 3.5 twin turbo in the my SHO and it has been great.

Yea that 2.7 Eco Boost is a cool platform. There is a small wave of Ultra 4 racers building Unlimited buggies based on the 2.7 EB mated to a T400 trans and divorced Atlas II T-case with lighter fab nine type axles. Idea is to lighten the whole car and drive train from the 5000 pound plus behemoths that dominate now to a more petite 3500# car. It remains to be seen how the turbos hold up to the dust and abuse of desert racing. Of if the 4 cyl power proves to be sufficient to match up to the current 800-900 HP cars that are the norm now. Ford is the title sponsor of Ultra 4 Racing this year and is pushing there 2 door bronco as a potential stock class racer. Several of the top Drivers have put pseudo Bronco bodies on there 4400 class cars and are Running Ford Race Engines. Ive never been a Ford guy but its good to see them stepping up into the off road world more. The IFS of the Bronco while ok for a desert racer will never quite match up to the Wrangler platform for Rock Crawling but for the mall crawling most of the Broncos will do it will match up just fine to the hoards of mall crawling wranglers already out there.

Actually, the Bronco Sport looks a lot like the Gen 1 Bronco, 1966-1978.

I have the EcoBoost in my Mustang, and I have to tell ya...it's a rocket.

On top of speed and torque, I got 32.6 mpg on I-8 @125mph...until CHP pulled me over.

I was skeptical about the 4cyl Eco, but after having mine for almost 25,000 miles, it has given me zero problems and is hard to beat on fuel economy and drivability.

I guess that is by interpretation.

I have seen a few on the road, and the 4 door version looks gay AF to me, and are an utter and complete disappointment from what my expectations were. (see my reference to Kia Soul/Jeep Compass)

Don't get me wrong, I am a Ford owner at heart, and have 4 Ford's right now. I WANTED to buy the new Bronco, but after seeing one in person, there is no way. And for this, I am saddened. :sad-pacing:

Having built and driven a Bronco for almost 30 year, I was just as anxious as you. Best I can say is Ford did better than Chevy with their reintroduction of the Blaze, and that aint saying much.

lol, few want the old lines of the ''what we would call awesome ride s back in the day'' newbies want phone blue tooth, awesome radio ect sound, back up cameras, ass whipper, nose whipper, and a gals message that says sexily'' buckle your seat belt honey, momma says so''
jmo   :o

I can accept aero dynamics and I love all the new gadgets, adaptive cruise control is great for long trips, crawl control for trails, and multi-terrain assist for all types of terrain, but I think they left out Ford Tough in the Bronco, and Chevy went full lib-vegan on the Blazer.

They could have had a couple GREAT 4x4s to blow Jeep away and all the modern comforts for the road there and back but that might feed toxic masculinity so marketing opted for the gay side.

-all the new platforms oughta be called pussified mobiles, jmo and i've owned a few fords, never again, owned a dodge ONCE, never again,
oh well.
enjoy the new rides, and the gutless wonders of yester year or what ever, hehehe

Any of the Ecoboosts stuff seems to be great.

My SHO - I went with aftermarket downpipes, 3 bar map sensor, intake, and a retune. @ Firebird raceway with temps outside ~100 degrees on all season tires the 4700lb battlecruiser with ~93 octane fuel in it went 12.7 @107mph in the quarter. Not too shabby at all for a full sized four door with heated/cooled/massaging seats and a 12 speaker surround sound system. Lol.

Pretty sure with the better tires I have on it now, and some cooler temps and a few more points of octane I could easily run 12.5s. It has seen 150+ mph quite a few times. On the dyno it made a little over 400awhp and nearly 450awt and gets ~25-28mpg on the freeway if I drive like a civilized human and 18-20mpg in town. Pretty cool stuff.

Remember the bronco sport and bronco are two different vehicles. I’m excited to see how the actual bronco holds up and really looking at getting one for family off-road excursions. I’m about over the hype and wish they would actually put this thing on the ground already vs just what’s out there for marketing.

The sport is a waste of time IMO. I’ve driven one just to see what it was about and it’s basically an escape. As for the maverick I guess it makes since to use the platform from the sport and turn it into a truck but I wouldnt think there would be much of a market for a car/truck thing again.

I think the new Bronco is going in the right direction.
I was sad when I saw the new Blazer

I agree with ya on this one, my friend...atleast so far. We will see if any of our minds change with the release of the 2-door.

Oh wait, this post was about the new truck/Maverick...
