Happened upon this website tool THE TRACE has where they track and report FFL inspection reports from BATF inspections. While THE TRACE is obviously trying to show that the industry is violating rules left and right, WE know these "violations" are usually mere clerical paperwork errors and mean nothing on their own.

HOWEVER,...if an FFL has a LOT of errors,...perhaps they don't have their s@#t together? And if so, is that a place you want to do a transaction with? Obviously, the fewer violations per licensee, the tighter a ship they run.

So let's say you see on Gunbroker an item you want to get, and the FFL advertizer is XYZ Guns in Page, for instance. Do you know anything about this FFL? Ever done business with them before? At the very least, you can check against this list to see if they commonly get cited or not.

For what it's worth.

Complying with FFL regulations isn't rocket science...it's simple basic record keeping. Get a gun, record it in the book....sell a gun, record it in the book. It's incredibly easy.

It’s interesting that you don’t see any of the big guys in there, Cabela’s, SGC, C2, etc.

I know of one instance where there was a threat to a Prohibited possessor, by ATF, dispose of two firearms bought from Big Guy by next week, to an FFL, who will book them in, or we come to arrest you. That was based on an audit of the Big Guy’s records but it doesn’t show up as even a warning letter. Hmmm

I only recognized two of those 'dots' that I clicked on, Merchant...since been sold, and
Reeds Firearms...which is still around to the best of my knowledge.
