Nice to read that 30-06sprg. user's, are alive and well!!!

I have used one, most of my life, for long distance shooting,... without complaint!

Long live the ought 6, and the 45acp!!!

Marlin lever action in 44mag, iron sights. Taken 5 with this since giving up the scope. It's light and fast aiming for the way I hunt and stops everything it hits. All I need now is a tag

Any Remington in 308 or 300wm if I have to reach out beyond 400 yards. I know you can shoot 308 over 1000 yards but drifts more with the wind. In fact, any gun you know and are comfortable with and know shot placement. Seen deer drop dead in its tracks with 22LR but elk have thicker hides and it’s all about shot placement.

1980’s Ruger #1 .375H&H, 80’s era leupold Vari X2 3-9x32.

Or

Browning 1885 .30’06 w/ leupold vx 3 2.5-10x40 Boone crocket

Mine has been a Remington 700 rebarreled to 338 RUM. It's has killed several elk. A few by me and several by others. It does drop em😁

I have killed several Bull elk, several mule deer and a nice coues deer all with a custom Browning A-bolt 7mm Rem Mag using quality commercial ammo. Recently i have switched to a Remington 700 Sendero in .300 Win mag with a muzzle brake and probably will never look back from it till i can't hunt anymore. I have a several other bolt action rifles in 30.06, .308 and .300 WM all will do fine service on any AZ hunt. I have a Pronghorn hunt with my son and in the past i have always used the 7MM on pronghorns. Probably any centerfire rifle will suffice for the little Pronghorn. My son is also drawn and i think he wants to use the Browning so i will probably use the .300 just cause its what i have been shooting lately but we will see after a few more range trips. I do like the notion of hunting with one gun your proficient with but variety is the spice of life.

If I were to take an Elk it'd be with my 308win Rem 700 with a 4-12x VX-Freedom on top.

Probably use the 165gr SGK's I've already got loaded up. With enough heads up I might work up a 180gr RNSP load though as long as I'm not expecting the distances involved to be too great.

A pre 64 mod 70 that I lightened the stock on in 30-06. She'll do fine with my stockpile of Remington core-lok for years to come.
