Drones are small arms - therefor we need to master them

OK, you talked me into it. I will go buy myself a drone as a Christmas present. Not going to mount weapons or flamethrower; just want a camera to surveil the surroundings; see if there are any Hamas Antifa Sinaloa pukes heading toward my compound.
What do you recommend I buy?

I'm afraid I haven't brought myself up to speed on the newest and latest. 3 years ago at this time, I bought myself a DJI Mini for about $300 as my first drone. At that time it wasn't clear (like it is now) that DJI products spy on their users and everything they see. But at the time, they were the simplest and easiest brand for newbies to learn how to fly. And also, the Mini was under the weight threshold for FAA regulations and you could pilot it almost anywhere without having to register the craft or yourself. It has been a wonderful little first learner model.

Today, while DJI products are still good performing drones,...they are not what I would consider a "secure" drone or a "responsible" purchase. The only reason I still use mine is that I'm not doing anything or going anywhere with it that could compromise national security. However, if I lived near Luke Air Force Base,...I'd ditch it.

A couple of the drone enthusiasts I occasionally follow on YouTube have almost entirely stopped using their DJI drones and have started using Anafi and Parrot drones for most of their purposes, so I would tend to research there first.

I bought a DJI Mini 2 about 2 years ago from a guy selling a NIB that needed some money. It was $300.00 back then. Fun to learn with and cheap. Make sure that you buy the drone insurance for 2 drones. I wrecked my first one on a hillside up at sycamore creek. Found it after a mile hike in the brush. $49.00 insurance for the replacement. I got that one back and was planning on flying out of my back yard to look at fireworks this past July. I started the propellers up and my dog jumped at it(still on the ground) bit the drone(teeth holes in the body)and another $49.00 got another replacement. Before the 2nd replacement, I bought a DJI Mini 4(FROM DJI)a few months ago. It was held in U.S. Customs for 2 weeks until I could explain that i use it for fun flying around the lake in my subdivision and flying in the desert taking pictures. Next drone that I buy will be from a private person again.

Interesting article about DJI here. Just think of them as your flying TicToc.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

So, if not DJI, who?

Chinese drone making giant DJI is disabling geofencing in the U.S. You can now fly your drone over airports, military bases, prisons, infrastructure, and the White House. This is a gloves off move by China, obviously meant to allow and encourage nefarious deeds and activities.

However,...as an owner of a DJI product,...I am selfishly very excited about this development. Not that I intend on violating military airspace or airports or prisons,...but the geofencing has also interrupted plenty of harmless and (what ought to have been) unregulated flight plans in areas that would/should have been perfectly fine.

Most footage you have seen of drones attacking Russians have been filmed from the drone's perspective. Those being hunted are usually too busy doing evasive maneuvers to bother filming their own death. But just occasionally,...someone on the sidelines catches some footage of the panic involved when the prey knows they are being chased.
