If there is no longer a tax on certain NFA items, does an FFL still need to be an SOT? Basically, the SOT was paying to do tax-free transfers, but now there's no tax...

The BBB did nothing to the NFA, other than remove the cost of some of the tax stamps. The NFA still exist, tax stamps still exist, SOT still exists. Just paying $200 for the stamp for suppressor, SBR/SBS, and AOW's stopped.

Aside from not paying the $200 nothing else would change.
It does make me wonder if it could boost the 2nd hand market for cheaper cans & SBRs since there's no more 2x transfer tax 🤔

Every shop that specializes in suppressors has been spamming me with “buy now” or lay a way specials for 1/1/26 delivery because apparently everyone is going to want one now and everything will be sold out.

Personally I think there will be a bunch of new small start up companies trying to take advantage of the market and supply and price will drop for basic suppressors.

Could even see the return of Form 1 kits on eBay with the change in ATF policies. That would be something!
