Do I need multiples of the same gun?

Two is always better. I have guns for when things go bad, and when things go bad I don't want to have one of anything.

I would say just to keep you sane, limit calibers, and limit magazine compatibility. So if you have a G19, buy a G17 or G34 which is even easier to shoot accurately but don't conceal as well. Then buy some 33 round fun sticks. But whatever you get, that family members can shoot it comfortably otherwise it's pointless.

My vote is that if your budget only allows for one or the other, I say diversify as much as possible. Especially if your shooting a lot or have the time to enjoy your collection the way you want to enjoy it.

Eventually you'll probably get to owning multiples of each and maybe decide that it's more practical to only have a few calibers, but in the mean time, don't forget to enjoy the hobby.

I’ve always been a fan of at least 2 of everything. Nice to have extra mags and accessories that work on more than one firearm.

Two is one and one is none! I agree with the fact you should have multiples if you are as many of us and try to prepare for what we can. I'm not saying go crazy and be TEOTWAWKI prepper but prepare to feed and defend what is yours. I have 2 pools of firearms as well. I have what I can my defensive/security pool which consists of the most common firearms and calibers as well as having 2 to 3 of each of them as spares etc. I also have some different hunting rifles, range toy firearms etc that I dont have multiples of. For these they range in many calibers, configurations etc but they would not be my primary arms if SHTF. I also handled so I have lots o stuff to reload and have tons of different brass, die sets bullets etc incase I have to resort to that.

Yes I also have 2 pools of firearms. I have war stock and practice stock. I only take the war stock out to zero every 4 months. Then put them back ready to go.
