Do I need multiples of the same gun?

Need? That is subjective to many factors pertaining to each individual.
But as a some of us gun fanatics, it is easy for us to convince ourselves we need something that we really want. With that said, I am guilty of this myself. I love the SKS platform and always looking to add to the collection. A lot of people have firearms they don't need, but they enjoy just for shooting. However, they'll never assign those firearms for defense / SHFT situations. Those firearms may not be needed, but strongly wanted. My take is if you can afford it and plan on getting some good use out of it, go for it.

The best source of spare parts is another gun. Also, it is nice to have a clean one ready when you have just been to the range and mags stay interchangeable.

This is a good point. I have a P365 and was thinking of getting another one.

It’s not a bad idea. I try to stick with military calibers (9mm, 5.56) and mass manufactured pistols and rifles (Glock, AR). My thought is if ever anything goes south, they will be much easier to source.

You should have as many guns as your budget permits, the issue of duplicates is irrelevant. I bought three of the same rifle on Black Friday. Why? Because I wanted to. Got two Ruger P90's, got three Russian Makarovs, got five matching MPA shotguns, got several other guns where I have several of the exact same thing and if the opportunity presents itself I'd gladly buy another "duplicate"

hehehe, one is not enough, never will be, one should have as many as needed to fill space required, i am in building business, i do add ons, can show examples for the storage rooms, hehehe,
happy holiday to those that subscribe

If budget and room to store them is not an issue, then why not. If one is good than 2 must be better.

Them P90's are pretty ugly though. But yeah I get it. All Day.

Having done Cowboy Action Shooting for a couple decades, I have duplicates of just about everything.

I have carried that tradition on, even with the 2-gun and other competitions, as well as the SHTF guns.

Mechanical devices do, on occasion, fail without warning.

Being able to just grab the backup and go is the most efficient technique, deal with the problem later.

I like to have a spare Glock for carry in case it breaks, to use the same holster. I have multiples of guns I like just because I like them though. I don’t buy into “have a spare in case yours is taken into evidence” because that is pretty remote and who cares if you switch carry guns for a while

i have some c&r guns that i would like to have 2nds on for parts purposes for the most part. for me, caliber is the common denominator. 9mm, 38/357 and 45 in hand guns. keep prices down using same ammo and no confusion with the caliber sizes. might be confusion in a shtf moment, but i always check mags before leaving house w/ any weapon.
