I've bought from Discount many times. Having a long wait there is pretty common
I would never buy their house brand of tires again. I've had lots of problems with them. Their Pathfinder radials and Road Hugger radials are garbage.

I have had the opposite experiences with the Pathfinders. They have rode smooth and lasted well for me, maybe you got a bad batch?

I dunno. I have gone to Discount for a loooong time, and have had mostly positive experiences. I spend alot of time driving and it was important for me to use a vendor with many locations in other states. I have used Discount in CA as well as locally, and they have always tried to do right by me for the most part.

YMMV, I used to like Big O, but had a bad experience trying to get a tire of theirs warrantied while in CA for a TDY and switched back to Discount.

I bought a set of the Pathfinders and two of them had the treads come off with barely over 30,000 miles on them. I have not had any problems with BFG A/T, Nitto Terra Grappler, Cooper Discoverer.
The Road Hugger radials had 30,000 miles and were already wore out. They should have lasted 50,000 plus. They gave me some credit towards the Continentals I purchased. The Continentals are lasting quite well.

BFG's are bulletproof, just so damn pricey now.

I had a set of Yokohama Super Diggers that went over 60,000mi, best tires I have had besides BFG's.

Some suck more than others on any given day
Community Tire - charged me for new tire pressure sensors when I bought a set of tires on my 1964
Oldsmobile
Community Tire - would not remount a set of tires (less than 6 months old maybe 200 miles and
purchased at this store) that I wanted to change wheels on (Cragar SS) told me that they do not mount
used tires.
Pep boys - did not put the valve stem caps back on, found out when I got home
Quicklane - lost one of my locking lug nuts and did not tell me, found out when I got home.

Next time I will try Discount

Jack Furrier installed a new set of tires but used the old valve stems (after charging me for new ones) which resulted in a flat tire in Pinetop. The valve stem replacement cost me $25 and Furrier didn't even offer to reimburse me.

(This year, about 5 or 6 months ago)

Not using them again.

Last set of BFG ATs I bought for my F250 lasted all of 20k miles, and the last couple k was pushing it. They were good on 1/2 ton and lighter trucks, but just didn't hold up at all on the 3/4 ton. Same issue on my buddy's F350. I noticed they were wearing quickly and early on and started rotating them every oil change instead of every other, but that didn't do much to prolong the life.

I went to a set of Nittos and they're wearing much better and handle just as well off-road (not that I'm rock crawling or anything). Discount was a couple hundred bucks more than what I got them for installed on tire buyer.

Hmmmmm... This does not make me happy...

I just replaced my Goodyear Wranglers with Pathfinders last June because money was tight & couldn't really afford to replace the Goodyears... So far, I've not had any problem with them...

As far as the service from Discount goes, I'm thinking the OP ran into a store with a shitty manager/staff... I'd give some feedback to corporate...

I've not ever had a real problem with Discount - they've always treated me well... I once brought in a punctured ATV tire to them & they sealed up the puncture for free... Not had a problem with that tire since...

I get the Tire rack/local installers but one thing buying at Discount gets you is their network of stores if you have a problem while traveling. I had an issue while traveling to ABQ and found the closest location I could find, stopped fixed the problem and then continued with my trip. If I had gotten my tires done locally I would have had to find a place in a location I am not familiar with and it would have cost me $. I like supporting local businesses but the local guy isn't going to help you when you are having a problem hundreds of miles away.

I guy I knew started up the discount tire direct and I used to get super pricing and mount/balance at their "secret store". Since they stopped doing that, I stopped using them. I always hated the fact that they said they will match the price. I bought enough tires prior to Discount Direct and through DD, I just wanted their best price.

Just to get an idea of pricing I called them on a set of tires the OTD was $350 higher than the guy that was doing the lift on my Jeep quoted. I know Discount would have matched but I would rather give the business to a guy that shot me a good price to start with. For those folks that want road hazard insurance because the do serious off-roading, Discount will sell you insurance on tires that are not theirs.

As far as tires, the BFG ATs used to be my go to tire but like was said earlier, I only got a hair over 20K out of them on an F250, same thing with Goodyear ATs. I switched to TOYOs and doing much better.

A friend had a tire problem while just outside Casa Grande recently. He lives in Chandler and bought his tires from Discount tire there.

The Casa Grande store fixed him up no problem.

I'm glad you guys started this thread. I looked over my 8 year old tires on one of my vehicles and decided I needed new ones. I'll get them at Discount next week.

I refuse to play the price match game too. Why penalize the guy that gave the better price to begin with?

The shop I use offers some nationwide hazard thing for a couple bucks less than Discount, but I don't know how it compares. I think the whole thing is a hustle and waste of money anyway. Carry a full size spare and get the tire fixed at the next stop. If it costs me a few bucks, fine, I'm still a couple hundred ahead.

I needed some trailer tires and Discount wanted $160 a piece for them. I needed two.
I looked around and found them for $80 a piece.
When I told Discount , they sold them to me fo $160 out the door.
I would have rather bought them at the other store , but I needed them that day and the other store had to order them.
For them to drop the price that much they have to have a big markup on their tires.

On this we agree. If they want me to be a secret shopper so they can set their price-point, they could beat the best price buy 10% for my effort.

even with my fleet of vehicle i attempted to get them to work with me on some warranty issues, but was more or less told to suck it up.
i found a broker in glendale, better prices faster service, and can buy a warranty if you want, i put new tires on everything especially the trailers every year and half, pending wear. the trucks all get 10ply and they go about 40k miles then i replace. and we don't repair tires except if out of town, just not worth it for me to have trailer tire go flat with a load and or have three guys in a truck spending hours changing a tire. It would amaze you how many idgits in the trades have no idea how to jack up a vehicle

good luck with where ever you get the rubber.
happy friday
