My wife had a flat on her car.
She called me and I went and changed it.
Then we went to Discount Tire.
They were not letting anyone in the building because of all the virus crap.
They said we had to go home and get on their website and pick out what tire we wanted.
Then make an appointment to have it installed.
I told them to shove it.

We went to Big O Tire.
Right on the front door was a big sign that said

" Some of the workers here do not wear masks. If you have a problem with that call this number " with a phone number posted.

We walked right in picked out a tire and were out in less then an hour.

Then a month or so ago I put new tires on my truck.
The tires I wanted were $300 cheaper at the dealer than at Discount.

I will never go to Discount again.

yeah, i quit the discount shuffle long ago, over trailer tires, anything over a year they did not warranty go figure.
i use a broker over in glendale, but i don't repair tires, i put on new ones when a flat occurs, not a fan of repaired tires.
good luck with vendor

Discount has always been good to me. I buy lots of tires through them.
Been using Discount for many, many years. Never had an issue, in fact service has always been outstanding.
By coincidence, I got new tires yesterday. Made an appointment online, but at the wrong location. I showed up at what I thought was the right location, and the guy said "No problem; we'll take care of you," and he let the other location know. He showed me the tires available for my car on a large computer monitor. I selected the ones I wanted. He said "Have a seat; we'll get right on it." In about five minutes, he said "All ready." Must have been a NASCAR crew doing the tire change.
Everybody was wearing a mask, so I did, too, but none of that other nonsense.

I switched to Jack Furrier... found out I could get a better price online then have them installed at my closest shop. Went back many times for various tire service- never a charge... and they would give me buckets of wheel weights for casting.

I just happened to be here to get tire balance and rotated. Don't have that similar issue. Walked in without mask and no issues.

Must vary location to location?

Though, I'd buy set of tire elsewhere and pay their lifetime balance/rotate

On side note, I recommend Sams Club. Much less wait time able to shop and eat their cafe food in the meantime.

Discount Tire customer for life. I was disappointed when they did away with the free mount and balance when you buy your tires there, but it was good while it lasted. What they charge now for mount and balance really drives up the total price. Their customer service is exceptional and they are a great company to work for, so I will always support them.

Doesn't help much when you need a tire right now, but I've had good luck with TireBuyer for my last few sets. Plenty of name brands to choose from and it's easy to find a reputable brand that they're running a special on. They have a big warehouse in Phoenix and Tucson so shipping usually takes a day, two days at the most. I save a few hundred bucks and a local shop gets a little piece of the action on the install. It's a win-win.

What location? I've been to discount 3 times since covid started and haven't had any of those issues. And they were all 3 different locations too since I end up stopping at whatever I'm next to at the moment.

They were probably telling you to make an appt because it was busy as hell and you'd be waiting 2+ hrs since you just walked in. It's not unusual. I'm guessing the other side of the story would be told much differently.

Discount has always been great to my family. Hell, they've even repaired a few tires that I didn't buy from them for free. I was at a Discount tire two weeks ago, no mask issues. You could sit inside, but there were fewer chairs than usual.

As a side note, new tires is one of the best smells in the world.

It was in Marana and they were not busy at all.
Telling me I had to go home and find the tire I wanted on line and then make an appointment is BS.

I like the selection of tires on their website and have used them for years,
but dislike how rough they are to the finish on brand new forged aluminium wheels.

I wish I could find a place that takes their time mounting and balancing the tires.
The price would not bother me if it was more,
since Discount has scratched almost every expensive wheel they have touched.

I went to the discount at 43rd ave and Glendale for a rotate and balance. Out within a half hour. I was getting some shake in the steering wheel on the freeway, so I went back yesterday and had them do a road force balance. Out within a half hour. No appointment on either visit.

These tires are BFG KO2-265/70 17. They sold me these for half price with road hazard warranties. They sold them to me for that price because they couldn’t balance my previous Goodyear MTR’s.

I’ve had good experiences with them.

We moved to Flagstaff about 25 years ago.
I had a nail in my tire and took my truck to Discount Tire.
They fixed it for free and we have been going to Discount for 25 years.

I've gone to discount for years. Last year I got a huge nail in the sidewall of one of my 7 year old tires on my truck. Discount gave me a new tire to replace it for just under $20.00.

I'll continue going to them.

Were you incapable of ordering a tire from the parking lot on your phone, and making an appointment in the same manner?

I don't have a fancy phone. So , no. Besides I like to see what I am buying in person.
I have never been to a tire store in my life that didn't show me what I was buying.
It doesn't matter any way now.
I went to Big O.
Big O doesn't play these stupid games and I was in and out in no time.

Funny that was almost my exact experience after coming back from being assigned overseas 26 years ago. Had something stuck in my tire (new BMW I brought back) and was slowly loosing air. Called around and everyone quoted a price to fix it. Called Discount and was told " we fix them for free" Dropped by later in the day and had it fixed for nothing. Throughout the years I have dealt exclusively with them for all my tires. They are always willing to help even if I didn't get the tires from them. I think the different locations are run differently because ours here in a smaller town is great, always willing to help.

That one simple act created 2 lifetime customers. If they ever decide to go public ,I will own some shares.
