I am thinking about getting a new Dillon 750. Who has one and how do you like it. I know its just an upgraded 650. I currently load on 3 Dillon 550's and a square deal.

I went over to Dillon today and the retail is shut down. I had to call from my phone to place the order while in the parking lot. I ordered the 750 and the case feeder but they did not have any feeders. I had to return later to pick up the 750 after they built it. The panic has them low on stuff it sounds like.

I believe the reason is due to the limited workforce. These "Social Distancing Rules" we are currently living with, really can but a strain on all types of manufacturing.

How do you like the 750? I was thinking of upgrading from my 550. Would be nice to have something that's auto indexing.

I got my first dillon which was the 750 about a month ago. I went from the Hornady LNL AP and its much smoother in literally every way. From doing my research I dont think I would have sold a 650 to get a 750. I guess one gripe people had with the 650 is if you werent priming a case you would lose that primer on the floor (again, never seen one being used so not sure) and you dont get that with the 750.

Yes that can happen, but that wasn't the real reason, I believe Dillon actually got tired of replacing the entire primer system when a user has a Primer Kaboom ! I've never had one, but I guess since the primer system is rotary and right next to the Kaboom, are 5-6 primers in the disc, they also ignite, followed shortly by the entire primer tube (Kind of like a fuse). Quite a large explosion which renders the entire primer system inoperable.
the 750 brass retaining spring in the priming step is something to watch. my buddies 750 is finicky and that design just seems like crap.

I have had my 650 since 1995 and never had any issues with the priming system, including explosions. I also have a 550 that has the same priming system as the 750 and I think it is a step back. The rotary priming system on the 650 is what makes it great. I see it as Dillon needed to dumb down the 650 because some people have issues with it. The priming system on the 750/550 is not bad and is certainly simpler than the 650. I just understand the 650 and prefer it.

I just mounted it and mostly got it set up for 9mm. I have not loaded on it yet but hopefully this weekend. I still do not have the case feeder because they are back ordered. I think it will be faster than the 550's that I use now.

I loaded on a 650 years ago when they first came out. I had a primer expload and it shot the rest of the primers up the tube and into the roof. It did not blow the outer tube but it did blow the priming tube. No injuries but it was very loud.

It will definitely be faster, you will be amazed! Being able to leave your right hand on the handle and not have to take it off to put in a case in really makes it great. I used only 550's before I got my 650 and was blown away when I stared loading on my 650. Since you don't have the case feeder yet you wont see it immediately but you will.

I was able to load about 650 round of 9mm yesterday. I really like it once I got everything dialed in and working like it is supposed to. I still do not have a case feeder so I just used the tube that it comes with.

I agree with Intel6. The priming system on the 750 is a step backward into the 550.
Setting off a tube is no joke and I'm glad it's never happened to me, but I've seen the after effects. And, it's the reason I always wear shooting glasses when I'm running either my 650 and even my 1050.
The upgrades on the 750 vs 650 were all, at least what I could see, copies of aftermarket upgrades made for the 650 over the years like the roller cam.
The only upside that I can really find is that the 750 is a bit beefier than the 650. But the primer system is just no bueno for me. If given a choice, I'd pick a 650 over the 750.
Now, the upgrade from the 1050 to the 1100 is a bit more pronounced and better. The stroke is better, the indexing is better and the swager is better. At some point I'll probably dump my 650 and buy a 1100 so that I can run large primer on my 1050 (45 and .308) and small primer (9mm and .223) on the 1100. Be nice not to have a shower of Varget every rotation.
