What in the hell is going on with the AK's these days.

I remember having a SAR-1 about 8 years ago that I bought for 450 bucks.

Now here we are in 2020 with a WASR going for more than most AR's.

There isn't any restrictions with Russia or any of the former com-block countries that I can recall.

Is there limited parts kits for these because of 922?

Everything took a bump up in price when the panic began 2 months ago. Now that the panic has pretty much stabilized, things SHOULD be beginning to drop downwards again. BUT,...so many people out of work,...folks are trying desperately to get maximum bucks for their minimal stuff.

I am estates I bought one of those Bulgarian 74s back in the day for like 300 bucks. Might be my favorite rifle to shoot! An Olympic arms AR was also 850 so I guess they just take turns.

about 2 years ago the AK prices spiked up because internationally there were lots of military orders for them and hence the civi market prices went up as demand increased.

Hell, look at how expensive SKS prices are now

It's bizarro world, bro. Back in the day, ARs were $800 and AKs were under $300 all day long. Even Norincos. And your AR choices were pretty much Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt, and DPMS. Olympic if you were slumming it. Oly owners left the trailer park and "upgraded" to plastic crap (i.e. Cavarms) when those came about during the Clinton ban. Now ARs are dirt cheap and AKs are $$$. Even the crap ones. You got hosed on the SAR. I remember buying a SAR-1 back in the mid 2000s for $275.

Makes me appreciate my Chinese NHM-90 that I augmented back into "pre-ban" configuration with folding stock and all. I picked it up for about $350 in 2003, added a Romanian side-folder, carefully took a Dremel and cut-off wheel to the welded on thread protector so I could add a Smith Enterprises Vortex, and added a Russian insulated AK101 foregrip. Total hard cost was about $450 bucks. Then I picked up a dozen Circle 10 hybrid polymer mags back when they were only $13 each.

Now my buddy William wants to throw $1300 at me for it and the mags. At current prices, I couldn't even replace that combo. I also like it too much. William is just gonna have to settle for fondling it when he visits.

What’s the price of Arsenal AKs doing these days? I haven’t kept up with the AK market

That was my first AR I owned (DPMS) and paid about 650 for that one. I remember when mags were going for 25-30 bucks a pop then.

Pickings were pretty slim when I entered the scene as a gun owner. Dark days let me tell you.

1399 on GB right now.

Told ya. Bizzaro world.

Pretty crazy, think I picked mine up for 850 a few years ago

Don't worry guys. The Venezuela invasion is nearly here. They got a brand new Russian-supplied AK factory a few years ago that we'll get to pack up and ship over.

<Starts rubbing hands and making borcht.>

900 Bucks for a WASR 10, WOW. Many, many years ago I picked one up at J&G's for around $300 including tax. Almost tempted to put it on the market. But I enjoy shooting it, so I'll hold on to it. I still can't believe $900. Wonder what my $70 Hugo SKSs are going for now?
