Did anyone go to the SAR show today? If so... how was it?

A little slower than years past. The vendors aren't making as many sales as years gone by due to the economy being in the crapper. So the vendors are not necessarily motivated to grant any discounts or bargains. Yet, for the same reasons, there were a lot of private sale offerings walking around the show with those who attended. More people than usual brought stuff to sell or trade. If you're into sniping such deals and have cash, there was some cool stuff walking around. Saturday should be even better when more people are off work.

Also, all the pistol braces that never got turned in or destroyed have come out of the woodwork and are everywhere. MAGICAL!!!! At least one suppressor manufacturer was selling Form 1 kits in the same building as where ATF had their table. Considering recent opinions ATF has released in recent days, I thought these guys had some brass balls doing that. I shook their hands.

Saw small pistol primers for as cheap as $65 per 1000, and small rifle primers for $55 per 1000.

It was a pretty good show for me. Picked up a good pile of ammo i have a hard time finding another krag and another hi standard pistol

Of all things i scored a New In Box pair of Danner Fort Lewis boots in my size for $50.00
Add parking and entrance fee and the boots cost me $85.00 ,not bad since the msrp on them is
$450.00 these days.
OK Show.

I went yesterday- did a double take and started laughing when I saw the atf table.
Didn’t see too many deals. I did pass on a smith 46 with box that was priced at 1000, lowest he would go was 950 but I did pick up a 6” smith ppc9 cause I had to have it.

How much was the PPC9?

I went on Saturday and just barely missed out on an all-matching vet-bringback K98 byf 4 for $1100. :(

I went on Friday and Saturday - I’d have to say it was easily the best gun show I attended in 2023. I didn’t find what I was looking for but ended up buying cool stuff I don’t need.

Went Friday. $10 to park, $25 to get in. Ouch.

Saw lots of guys buying bulk practice ammo, and carrying out to the parking lot on the borrowed dollies.

I hung out with a couple of old friends I don't get to see very often. Saw and fondled lots of cool toys. Found and bought one box of Cor-Bon DPX 9mm, which I carry in some of my 9s, and which is hard to find. Did not see even one box of Winchester Ranger-T in either 9 or .45; even harder to find.
Had fun, didn't get to see it all, but still money well spent when classified as entertainment expense.

Went back today. Got some krag books, a bonafide special forces hi standard barrel and a 1918 WW1 bolo with sheath and got to visit with bill poole a bit.

It seemed a little slower and less attended than last year. I didn't see anything that really caught my eye. Almost bought a new Glock 18 for $415 but decided to pass. I ended up buying two boxes of Estate 12ga shotgun target loads for $12. I did get a Turner's Outdoorsman 10% off coupon from their booth and went to their store and bought some Fiocchi 9mm ammo for $10.98 a box.

Always find some neat stuff to see. The vendor was kind enough to pull these out for me to take pics of.
Gave me a nice bit of background on each of them, also.

Did anyone see that skeletal fighter-jet nose, with the gun compartment opened for display? 8-)

Impossible to buy a Glock 18 for a private citizen unless it was a air soft pistol

Cool story, bro. Not worth a penny over $400, IMO.

I'm going to guess you fat fingered the '8' key instead of the '7' or a '9' in that sentence.

I went all 3 days. Friday, I managed to get what I needed for fair price and get few items bellow the current value. Idea is to buy from people who are getting rid of their stash and didn't even lookup current prices of those items. Saturday was the busiest and I was looking for more deals, the show was busy, plenty of people. On Sunday I went to just low ball the items that some vendors wanted too much for them. Some of the vendors are clearly there just for gun show experience and socializing, I would stand there trying to get their attention because they are too busy talking to somebody at their table and I just want to buy the item real quick.

Kind of marginal compared to years past. Found a deal on a couple items that comped my admission but that was it. Got a ton of stuff last year so I guess it all evens out.

A lot of the SAR vendors were quite unhappy with the turnout this year. Most started packing up several hours early on Sunday afternoon. Not a lot of buyers, just lookers. I think the trend of "good deals" at guns shows has clearly ended...some say it ended a few years ago (it did, IMO). Gun show buyers these days are largely new gun owners and/or people who don't know what they are looking at, and are easily talked into low quality goods by a smooth talking salesman. The amount of erroneous information I overhear while walking past tables is laughable.
