Does anyone notice a difference in their sleep? I get about 6 hours now and wake up ready to go. Before I got it, I used to sleep 8 or so and was very restless.

Thanks,
Thom

I have the hose hanging over the headboard. I also have the smaller
nasal mask. When I sleep on my back, the hose stays up high.

Saved my life, without it i was stopping breathing 30 times a night. I toss and turn a bit still but get much more REM sleep and can't live without it even for one night. I also prefer the nasal pillows. Dont know how people use the big full mask.

I don't sleep worth a crap with it but it's still better than going without it. I'll probably have surgery to correct the issue.

Before I was diagnosed, I blamed myself for always being tired. I figured it was because I wasn't sleeping enough, or wasn't being strict enough with my sleep schedule, etc. I met my then girlfriend, now wife during the worst of it. I was commuting some 650 miles (or more) a week on a sportbike between work and school, and would regularly find myself waking up in a different lane, or even drifting into the shoulder on the freeway. Pretty terrifying stuff. I was also tuining her sleep because I'd stop breathing, then gasp for air and it terrified her, haha. As soon as we got married, I did the at-home test, then the sleep study. Once I got the machine, everything changed for the better. No more falling asleep 10min into my commute on a bike anymore!

The downside is, it makes renewing my flight medical every year a real pain in the ass, but it is what it is.

Long story short, it changed my life! My current machine is old and needs replacing (it's noisy now, whereas it wasn't when new), but it's been a serious godsend for us. I became a whole new person when I finally started to actually sleep at night!

using a bipap since 07, before was a miserable day of work exhausted ect.

now i'm just old, but cannot nap for any length of time without it, or wake up choking or snoring so bad i end up not breathing.

life saver for sure, camping was a bitch, had to get a converter for 12volt, but nothing better than sleeping like a newb under the stars

Been using one for almost a year now. Was diagnosed with severe sleep apnia. It took a long time to get used to it, still not completely, but man what a difference. As others have said it has made my quality of life better and pretty much saved my life.

I opted for the surgery back in 2002. I tried the CPAP but could not abide the mask. The surgery gave me the worst sore throat of my life but it was worth it. My sleep lab studies showed 40 awakenings per hour, no joke, apnea is a killer.

I did the sleep study about ten years ago and they said I was fine. Doctor suggested to go ahead with the surgery while doing sinus surgery. Not fun honestly. Like HP said worst sore throat ever and it lasts a while. On top of that the pain from the sinus surgery. Pretty much anything you eat burns. Now ten years later I may need to try a CPAP, don’t sleep well at all. Wake up tired all the time. Sluggish.

I started using a bipap a few months ago. I know several men who use one, or a cpap machine. They all rave about how it has improved their sleep. I found the machine made no difference, but will continue to use it because SWMBO thinks it is a good thing.

I've used one for the last ten years. I finally went to the sleep test after my hunting buddies were ready to kill me on a trip. The sleep study showed I had extreme apnea. Since using, I get a great nights sleep. I can't sleep without it. I use the full mask, since I'm a knuckledragging mouth breather. I've had no issues, and it has greatly improved my health.

I use a Resmed Airsense 10 Apap. 90 events an hour down to almost none. Life changing.

I would fall asleep driving to or from work. Staying awake was painful.

I have lived many hours behind N95 masks, welding fume masks, paint masks, and supplied air respirators, so the Apap face mask was nothing to get used to.

oxygen at 2 liters works very well.
found this out in the hospital after I had 2 heart attacks and a high risk stent put in.
I can't tolerate the mask. the nose buds are better but not by much, it ramps up to fast and blows to hard then you can't exhale. that was my experience in TWO sleep studies.
they want me back for a third!

For me after I quit smoking and lost weight all the symptoms of sleep apnea went away completely. Haven’t used the cpap machine, that’s my experience. Other my vary...

As many CPAP users discover, the life-altering device comes with caveats: Health insurance companies are often tracking whether patients use them. If they aren't, the insurers might not cover the machines or the supplies that go with them.
