Which has the better benefits (or other simpler fixed % back card)? We use Costco gas regularly and shop there a few times a month. We also like to (but can't really afford) to travel.

Anyone have experience with both?

I use the Paypal cash back MasterCard (I know, Paypal is the devil). Nice thing with it is any merchant that takes Paypal, you can use this through your Paypal account. And, A LOT of smaller online ones only do take PP for some reason. Also, it being backed by MasterCard you can use it most everywhere else. If it's not a utility bill or the like, I use this card for everything else. So, a couple % back on money I'm spending anyway.

Except Costco.....really wish it were a Visa.

Had both. Never traveled w the SW card. When I cancelled they offered to waive the $69 fee. Still cancelled. What’s the point when I didn’t have the time.

As for the Costco card, 4% on fuel and all I use it for is fuel.

AMEX earned my business when the performed a chargeback on an illegal tow that took place. Paid w my AMEX to get my ride back and told them what happened, AMEX guy said “sounds like you are UNHAPPY W THE SERVICE” I said “I’m in happy w the service” tow yard put in a rebuttal but AMEX had my back.

Phuck you Visa and MaStEr Kard

I have a Costco card that I use at Costco. I use an American Airlines credit card for the rest. But I use American to fly also so I save up the miles.

I use my Costco card for 90% of my purchases because it translates direct to cash if I want it. I use my Hilton/Amex for travel stuff. I don’t chase the points, rather have cash, but find being an established member is really useful making reservations or a request. We don’t fly enough to use a dedicated carrier, but my SIL flies over 1 million miles, and her United benefits are sweet. Over the summer Discover ran a 5% cash back at restaurants that paid off. They don’t have an annual fee and I keep it around for a backup in case we get hacked while traveling.

I just use a BoA cashback card for personal and a Cap One Spark card for my business. Both of them offer 1.5% cashback. The only specific other card I have is for Amazon; I only use it for Amazon and get 5% back on all purchases there, which is fairly significant.

Kind of scary that so far this year I've earned about $900 in cashback rewards, $700 of that from my business card. Shit's expensive.

I have the costco card and am there frequently. 4% on costco gas and purchases, 3% on travel, 2% on food and 1% on everything else I think. I made 621 back from March to December. Definitely worth it for me. I've looked at other cards and they just don't pay me back what costco pays.
