I'm sure we've had this topic up before, but I have a few specific questions.
I haven't made a carry insurance choice, because I am slightly wary of "contract lawyers," where they get a straight fee, and however long or short it takes, they get the same fee. This creates a non interest in the outcome, but just a want on their part to just churn cases thru.

Have any of you found this to be the case?

I saw that at least one of the company's is going to monthly fees.
Is this a trend and should I get in on the yearly in case it goes away? I think it was around $130 a year for the basic stuff.

What does carry insurance cover ?

It covers shoots that are determined to be good shoots. If you are in a bad shoot, it won't cover you.

And if you are in a good shoot you won't need it.

Do the math.

I respectfully disagree
Let's just say the charges get dropped, there's some time and effort involved there?
And isn't a civil suit from the dirtbags family costly?

Yep, more worried about a civil suit...'MUH BABY, HE DONE KILLED MUH BABY, JUDGE!'...

Arizona law does not allow for civil suits in justified self defense shootings.

Let's recap; Bad shoot = no coverage. Good shoot = coverage not needed. Good shoot = no civil liability.

If you're in a good shoot, you can't be sued in Arizona. I posted that and a link in another thread on this board a week or two ago.

QuietM4 and Flash you're right. Arizona Revised States Title 13. Criminal Code 13-413. No civil liability for justified conduct. You can not be sued in Arizona if the shooting is deemed justified self defense. So in Arizona insurance in a waist of good money.

I moved here back in 2018 and once I got my CCW I immediately got carry insurance.
Let it lapse after the 12 months finished out. Had I known, and it's completely my fault, about the protection against good shoots, I would not have purchased. Now, I save that money and spend it on training and ammo.

Quietm4 did a good recap👍🏼
Thanks for the tidbit flash

......which causes me to derail my own thread.....
Let’s say we’ve tried to make the right choice under pressure, in the time span of two seconds, and it’s the wrong one? Monday morning quarterback and all.
I guess the rule of stupid places at stupid times applies..
Sometimes my job requires me to deliver packages in stupid places, but not stupid times.
Guess I’ll just have to use me noggin, as rj would say, haha, and think that driving into a stupid situation would have me keep on driving and come back later....when the stupidity has vanished.

Best to send your insurance $ to AZCDL. They are the ones that have helped in creating & correcting the state laws. Simple

Sage advice.

I carry professional liability insurance as I am a fed. honestly though I get it to protect me from a civil standpoint from disciplinary actions within my agency Who are all too eager to screw us over any chance they would get. Also I’m not worried about getting sued by someone I’ve shot but as a pilot with my agency I could get sued (or rather my estate could get sued) if I lose an engine and burn into somebody’s house so I do it for my wifes protection If I happen to flame out and land in someone’s living room LOL

WOW, you need it cause of your own employer, sad times

Sad times but reality. Having worked .gov employment, with several agencies, for most of my adult life you learn REALLY fast that your agency will throw you under the bus if something goes sideways. The agency’s lawyers work for the agency’s interests NOT yours. If those interests HAPPEN to coincide great otherwise...

Well now that the folks here have me feeling a little relaxed, it seems from this video that it can cost a LOT of money, just getting to justified...
Andrew Branca is in a great info source group on FB, and quite a subject matter expert.
If you ignore all the other stuff in this lengthy video, at least skip to 14:50 and listen to how you can NEVER trust a jury to do the right thing (or prosecutors for that matter) from a guy who's been there.

Another point I've always wondered is the one he brings up at 22:15.
Stay away from the plans that you can pick from a pool of lawyers signed on to that plan.
I willing to bet that plans that let you pick your own lawyer cost more.
There's probably a reason Andrew is partnered with CCW Safe, I've also heard good things about them, and they're self insured

Carry Insurance seems like a useless product. Just like most prepaid legal plans.

It is. I compare it to extended warranties on home appliances.
