So anyone have any experience with how the car dealerships here in Arizona have been dealing since the coronavirus started in?

I'm not naive enough to think there's going to be true smoking deals because of it. However, it would seem dealers would be a bit more willing to make deal on cars and trucks to get some cash influx.

The local dealer is down here offering 84 months with 0% interest.

That alone is making me wish I could afford a new car.

And 90 days no payments!!!! Drive that baby for 3 months before they come take it :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

My son and his buddy were out car shopping for my son's buddy and the (Chevrolet)Dealer offered him $3500 trade in on a Ford F150 EcoBoost. LOL

If the factories were still pumping them out then I could see dealers dealing but if the commodity is now in limited supply due to factory layoffs then I can see them staying with the sticker or even raising prices like they did on Hondas a few years ago...

OTOH my Mom just told me my Cousin in SC just traded her focus in on a new buick and got a smoking deal (which she always does) by telling them how much she was willing to pay or she was gonna walk to the next dealer... go figure.

84 month financing, 7 years.
Back in the 60's it was 24 month financing!
I'm thinkin' new vehicles these days are WAY overpriced.

Anytime you go to a dealership you're going to get screwed. You can lie to yourself all day long.

Got a buddy putting his life back together after making some big mistakes. Wrong woman who took his house. Smoked a doobie that took his job. But now he's better, and I was driving him down to Sands Chevrolet to see about him getting into a new car with all the desperation they got going on there. We pull into the used car section merely to drive over to the new car section, and one of the dudes is flagging me down like I'm dragging an infant behind my van.

"Dude, where you goin'?"
"We're driving over to the new cars."
"Oh we got awesome cars right here!" Aw, this kid is really trying.
"We got our heart set on a new one. My buddy drives for Uber. He wants something tip top."
The kid's practically dancing on his tip toes. "Oh I got tip top cherries right here, bro. And cheaper, too. Come in and talk to me." In my head I'm hearing 'I love you long time. Sucky sucky.' We just kept driving.

If you track car values, spring time is always when they are the highest, fall is the lowest. Very interesting scenerio now because normally this is the time of year when dealers make their highest margins.
We did buy a new car last autumn. We were looking for a pre-owned but the manager came out and basically accepted an offer on a new one that was equal to what we calculated the pre owned car should have went for.

There are parking lots all over the country filled with cars in excess... But dealers will always try to get the smoosh on a sucker any of the week, pandemic or no.

There is no such thing as an honest car salesman that's like saying politicians are honest and nice people.

Not to change the subject , but I have heard more lies and BS coming from people selling guns than I ever heard from people selling cars and I used to work at a car dealership in the used car department.

I had a guy that worked for me many years ago that was previously a car salesman. He once told me that if you can get the dealer to show you what they actually paid for the vehicle & then offer them about $500 over that, they most times would take it... Whether that is true, I'm a bit dubious...

Every time I Have purchased a car (since I got snowed on my first one as a young man) I ask to see their invoice and I actually usually pay underneath their invoice price. Meaning they try to get their profit from me by selling after market items/extended warranty, etc. I refuse all of that and walk out happy.

I know I’m still paying way too much for a car...but being the only owner brings me a peace of mind. My kids however have used cars that require lots of maintenance and repairs....it’s good to help them learn. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Make your deal tell them you will kill the deal if the dont deliver it, avoid the finance office. Did this twice in local dealer. They resist and flail but will deliver, guy brought all the finace office bullshit which needed my initial about 25 times for "I decline" time expended about 20 minutes not 2 hours in a closed room with their absolute best sales person who makes a lot of money for dealership. Deliver or kill the deal going forward.

Well, I'm not looking for a new vehicle but I've been considering a used truck with low miles. The reason I had posted the question is because there's rarely low mileage ones for sale from private sellers so I'm kind of forced to go with a dealer if I want one.

Since dealers have lease returns and other low mileage units I'll see how they deal at the end of this month and go from there. I don't have to get a vehicle that badly but I'll see what happens.
