I am currently without a 1911 and feel a certain hole in my soul! Carried a TRP for a few years
Oh god I loved that gun. Looking hard at a new range officer in 10mm but have to do a little more research as I don't know anything about the Range Officer line. Money isn't flowing like it did when I was working otherwise I might have to have the TRP in 10mm.

Just wish they didn't all come now with the ambi safety. I hate ambi safety

I love to post this photo whenever 1911's comes up. I dont shoot 1000's of rounds a month like some of you guys or belong to clubs or go to special training camps. Just a self taught dude who likes to shoot and goes a couple times a month.

I did this with that TRP at 7 yds. Admittedly this is about 10 years ago when I could still see but its 21 rounds. I have gotten close a couple of times with other guns but NEVER ever ever could I replicate this target. That gun was magic!!

I have been and am deeply attached to the 1911 platform, its an addiction for sure, for me it was the training how to shoot on one by my grandfather, i still have it, it rattles like a snake, but still hits point of aim.
one can not have too many of this platform

yes i have seven 1911's . it is like a drug, the first thing i look at in the gun shop is 1911. like i need another on.

Is anyone a fan of the Para Ordinance 45 double stacks? Ive owned a couple Springfield 1911’s but the skinny grips just don’t suit my large hands. As soon as I shot my first P13 I fell in love and own all the Para models now
I have a P14 and a P13 that has been sitting in the safe for years. I just took the P14 to the range today. Goes bang and hits where I aim.
According to the kitchen scale, the P14 loaded with 13+1 weighs a quarter pound less than a Kimber 1911 loaded with 8+1, because of the aluminum frame. I am going to start carrying the P14.

Is it sacrilege to want a 1911 in 9x19? If it is, I want to be THAT guy then, because I most certainly want one, just haven't seen a need to start saving when I have other things taking priorities. Maybe I should though...as a birthday gift to myself or from the wife.

I'm thinking Springfield Armory with a light rail.
If you want to put a Corvair engine in your Corvette, that's your business.

Wow quarter pound that’s quite a difference! And you get more capacity to boot. I have a Warthog that I need to dust off and shoot, it’s a pretty compact pistol for a .45

ParaOrdnance P14, loaded with 13+1 = 2 pounds, 8.2 ounces

Kimber Stainless Target, loaded with 8+1 = 2 pounds, 13.5 ounces

Kimber single stack weighs 5.2 ounces more than ParaOrd double stack -- about a third of a pound.

HOWEVER, the Kimber is loaded with 230 grain ammo; the ParaOrd is loaded with 185 grain ammo. Therefore, I estimate that with equivalent ammo, the difference would be around a quarter pound. Or at least, it's safe to say that the loaded double stack pistol weighs less than the loaded single stack pistol. Less weight, and 5 more rounds. Not bad.

Like the 1911's and had many of them. Landed up just getting a Ultimate Master Les Baer. The Baer was so great, I sold the rest of my 1911's. It was such a step up to me, the others just helped pay for it. Prefer a Sig P220 for carry.

Hi shooter444...I am back at AZshooting. Left for a while due to not being able to get into classifieds. Trying to get back in to good standing. Really not sure why it happened, but I have my opinions and theory's.
None of them good so I will shutup now...LOL
