I'm almost through the process, which, as you can imagine, is an outrage. Once I have the permit in hand, I will write a report.

Right now, I have an appointment for San Diego County in October. I wanted to apply in Kern because it would probably be much faster, but they want me to pay in full, refundable, before I can find out when my appointment would be.

I'm pretty sure the issuing authority can put "restrictions" on when and where you can carry. Also, you must list your gun, qualify with it, and they'll probably make you get a CA state certificate for handguns as well. They'll chop at you every step of the way, I wouldn't bother.
