Thinking of buying a home security/alarm system? Beware the cheap and affordable ones that use WiFi to connect the window and door sensors to the system. Savvy home burglary gangs have figured out that using a WiFi jammer disables these systems, allowing them to kick in a door or break a window without the system alerting. Go back to the older and more reliable hard-wired systems. Vintage is gold, baby!

"...the crews, which are believed to consist of four to six people, as highly functional and well-trained. They reportedly use a jammer to overcome wireless security systems that depend on WiFi to operate."

This trend is currently occurring mostly in high-end communities with multi-million dollar homes, for obvious reasons. But as the technological know how gets shared among the criminal community, the lesser gangs and crews will spread out to more middle class areas.

My security system is wireless and off leash 99.9% of the time.

My security system is never on a leash.
I would pay money to see someone try to get by them.

ATF agent: "Hold my beer"

In a situation like that.
No security system will stop them.
They will just blow the house up or burn it down.
Then root through the ashes.

It's an eternal struggle. It seems to me that with the desire and the necessary technical knowledge, anything can be hacked.
