All I have now is it was a "administrative ruling " and you have to destroy or turn in existing ones.

Yup. Trump ordered the DOJ to ban it and bypass Congress. The ATF via the DOJ changed the definition of machine gun so that it included bumpstocks.

Now they ban any item they don’t like by administratively changing definitions.

You all wanted someone to act like a dictator, and this is what you get.

And Cruz, Rubio, Bush or any other candidate would have done the same damn thing and probably by a executive order. If Clinton won and she would have if Trump hadn't won we would be looking at a complete semi auto ban.

What a great defense. “He’s as bad as I project on everyone that I hate. Even though there is zero evidence to support my position.”

Didn’t we learn as children that two wrongs don’t make a right? Or even one obvious wrong, and just a bunch of supposition.

No matter how you cut it, trump did this and no one else.

There are people with principles, and people without. People with principles point out wrongdoing no matter who does it. People without principles make excuses.

I see two things that should scare everyone. Redefining a semi auto that fires to fast as a machine gun is RIPE for abuse later. Who do you think will get to define RPM?

And the violation of ex post facto law. You have to destroy or turn in legally acquired property. Bill Clinton didn't make pre bans or standard capacity illegal, he just stopped future sales.

This is bad, whether you like bump fire or not, it will get to something you do care about

There are/is many things wrong with this issue, but you can't go and compare this issue with the AWB of 1994. Clinton only signed a law making it effective, no different than Reagan signing FOPA. Congress created the AWB not him. Congress tries to create laws that comply with the Constitution so that SCOTUS doesn't do a throw down on it. But todays Bumpstock ban wasn'
t created by congress, just a bunch a lawyers that work for the DOJ. Just because your an attorney with a sheep skin, doesn't mean your capable of writing constitutional law.

Yeah, that was a bad example. But the principle stands. ATF and administrations have changed the definition of parts kits a lot in the last 20 years, you still don't have to destroy or turn in parts that are no longer allowed.

I'm pretty sure this EO will stand just because of the optics and public opinion. I can guarantee the next step is "rate of fire" studies, laws, EOs and police

And like the cartoon above, I can guarantee that the NRA will do nothing. The NRA's job is to make gun control acceptable

This does not, in any way, make an ex post facto law.
Ex Post Facto would be if the ATF banned bump stocks today and then charged you for having one yesterday, when they were still legal.
