I call upon every gun enthusiast to boycott Visa for their Unconstitutional plans to categorize gun purchases

Mastercard & American Express are obviously watching to see what happens next

Mastercard and AmEx are on board already.
Looks like we'll pay cash for guns and ammo from now on.

My charge card has a cash advance, just like using the Visa card. I will take a cash advance and use that to purchase my 'tools'. And then pay it back just like using my card.

If only there was some type of easily transportable physical token of monetary value that you could use to exchange with merchants for durable real goods and or services. Maybe this "currency" should be readily available in different denominations of variable value, and light enough so that one could easily carry multiple pieces of it on your person at all times. Perhaps some type of very lightweight yet durable linen product would make a good choice to print this currency upon. Oh, and lets put pictures of dead historical figures on them.

Excellent discussion about these new credit card codes. Our new and improved Socio-Fascist NKVD is essentially privatizing their f00king database. Gotta always be on offense. They. Never. Ever. Stop.

The firearms industry needs to nip this Bolshevik crap in the bud and make it AS EASY AS credit cards to pay via money orders, cashier's checks and digital currency (& obviously ca$h for LGS) for purchases. SKREW AMEX, DISCOVER, MC and VISA... Bypass them completely, no data, no database🥃🥃🥃

From another RKBA list, worth some thought.

More on the new "merchant category" here <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/09/visa-mastercard-amex-categorizing-gun-sales-in-new-merchant-category/__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!aEuVLLtXh7zELD-mUQc33dWF3XhE4J4FB_ETJsDSKnlaPNUxagdh6aWZfT7QckhbMhjSUqNgavqH$ >. And again, look at the named idiots crowing over their victory, including Lieawatha, Eric Adams, and the CA and NY AGs.

Key point to remember is that the new code doesn't categorize your purchases, it categorizes your MERCHANT. If you buy $2,000 of hollowpoint from WalMart, no difference from today, because WalMart is a "general merchandiser." If you buy a gun safe or two high-end elephant guns (for a safari honeymoon) from Scottsdale Gun Club, your purchase is taggable as worthy of investigation. The new code is nothing but a "yellow star" for your gun dealer.

Most cards, well every card I’ve ever read the agreement, charge the interest on a cash advance immediately, not on the unpaid balance at the end of the billing cycle……this is not a good plan.

Not to mention most, if not all, charge a 3-5% fee on the advance.

Yeah the pre paid cards or gift cards has me wondering, so lets say we buy a gift card or cards for said amount of 2k on a credit card to ones favorite sporting goods store.

You buy a gun and ammo on the gift cards, that would eliminate the purchase tracking codes the credit
card companies are implementing, correct?

All in the name of telling credit card companies to kiss your azz

or vendors could offer prepaid gift cards, paid for by card, but when using gift card, ???/ maybe, just food for thought.

It’s not item level, it’s merchant level. Whether you purchase gift cards from XYZ sporting goods or guns and ammo from XYZ sporting goods it’ll be classified the same way.

You would have to buy the prepaid Visa/Amex/Mastercard cards that cost you a premium and the processor still gets their merchant fees on top of it. I guess if you’re trying to line the pockets of the ones you’re “boycotting” that’s a good idea.

That makes no phukn sense, you’re telling me when aunt Emma goes and buys gift cards at Cabelas for all the favorite nephews the credit card company is going to categorize that purchase under the same code as a firearm purchase or ammo purchase

Hmmm. That doesn’t math either. Looks like we should stick to cash and back alley deals.

According to the reporting from Reuters, "The code will show where an individual spends money but not what items were purchased."

But you're correct..."That makes no phukn sense"

It’s a MERCHANT category code, not an item category code. Cabela’s MCC is based on their primary business activity, which is likely sporting goods or general merchandise. Anything you buy there will be classified the same way. Go to a local gun store and buy a gun or a pair of your favorite tactical camo cargo shorts and it’ll be classified under the new firearms MCC.

You can see the codes on your credit card statement. Do you see 15 different line items for your trips to Costco when you purchase groceries, a shirt, a TV, a vacuum, etc? No.

Its all good .. So I will be on a new list. IF its local I would just use cash but I do most of my shopping via the net so .. another list it is.
