BLM building new ranges

I just saw this as well and it’s been the first I’m hearing about it but I’ll be honest I have not followed along recently. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad
thing.(think table Mesa)

Now that I think about it I think I may have heard of this after hearing about the build out at table Mesa.

Are these to be occupied by blm or every man for himself?

Even talk about it is cool. It would be nice if there is a berm at 600yds though. A lot of formalized shooting events at 600.

It would be really cool if they added some ranges around the valley, just sucks that they are not planing any in the east valley

Interesting. They say that started the first site May 4th. That will require a drive-by to see.

First time I saw this, it's great news. The more ranges the better for us stuck here in the city lol.

More ranges is a great thing. Just hope that the personnel that will be policing the ranges have knowledge of firearms. Don't need another pimply face puke telling me to remove the mag from my K98 and SKS.

Boy everybody has got this all wrong. These are open desert shooting spots the for years have been used by freedom loving gun owner's. They are not new ranges modified desert areas, there will be nobody at their as Range masters except for cameras, The are spending Tax $ money for what most people don't want and have been using for free.

NO more backing your vehicle up behind where your going to shoo. You have to haul all of your guns and equipment from their designated parking lot to a hopefully OPEN concrete table. Maybe ok for weekend shooting when the crowds will be 10 deep trying to get a table, but if your like most gun owners, maybe you just want sight in a rifle, maybe you want to hit some steel. You will have to use their approved targets that are out on their range. God forbid you forget to pick up your brass and deposit into their required disposal container that is filled to the gills since the CCV cameras are recording every thing you do.

Or it will end up just like Table Mesa. Its not going to end pretty.

real old news, probably not soon, rumor is $$$$ got allocated elsewhere, but who knows

No..new news.
Out shooting this morning. Some engineers were setting stakes. Lots of cones and signs across from old Baldy. They be doin' somethin' out there, good or bad depending on your perspective :confusion-questionmarks:

well there goes that shooting spot, shame really, as it works well now, and in future will be a clusterfudge, for sure and a lot smaller area to work with,

time to move on to another spot, the big hunt is on.

My thoughts exactly. :|

It must suck living in Phoenix or anywhere close to it and trying to find a spot to shoot.
All I have ever heard from there is how hard it is to find a spot or how trashed it is.

with everything else the BLM touches they try real hard to mess it up... so i don't have a whole lot of faith in them. i feel it's just another Table Mesa situation. i'm kind of surprised they haven't tried something like this out sycamore creek/sugerloaf. although it's not as open as this plan... but i would't put it past them to try.

In the Phoenix area you have to drive super far to find a good shooting spot or a good place to go off-roading. But we are still more fortunate than many others in states that don't have open land or public areas like ours where everything like that is private property.

Truth, I remember when that was not the case but your right we have it a whole lot better then most states

well there goes a few really what was decent shooting spots, while they had hood meetings in regards to ideas ect, they had already decided what they were gonna do, and consulted with some idiot associated with the nra who does shooting ranges, instead of listeing to the what the actual users had to say.
In all my years dealing with the blm (land leases and ranch crap) they have not stuck to their word, and change the rules once they have you in their grasp, to dictate , who, how , when and why. and of course at a whim can decide you no longer need access or use of land, regardless of agreements.

jmo, and never gonna change it, the local fiefdom of the blm never changes
Rj

and to further note, you can count on any other shooting area around or near this so called "developed range" will be closed to access. just how they play the game.
