This seems like a nogo, as it blends the ol' state laws vs federal law conflict.
But I only play a lawyer on the internet

They're talking about changing federal law.

Trump should come out against it. It will be on his desk in a week and he can laugh as he signs it.

Pence can then say "good god almighty we whooped em again josey"

Hmmm,... let's see,... alcoholics possess, oxycontin addicts possess, etc. etc,... but, NO LEGAL PRESCRIPTION THC USERS.

Hmmm :confusion-confused:

Yep, Federal law is what stops THC users from buying/owning guns.

It doesn't help that they'll give Medical Marijuana cards to just about anybody who asks for it.

I understand the conflict between State and Federal Government on this one.

I was just trying to point out the failure of Laws that have been legislated to prevent alcoholics and druggies from possessing, and don't seem to be very effective.

State needs to just go full on legalization. No medical marijuana card, nothing for the feds to check you against.

You would still have to lie when filling out the forms at an FFL.

And lying on the 4473 is a felony, carrying up to 10 years and $250,000.00 fine.

That was my point.
Currently it's an easy case, check medical MJ database, check date on 4473, slam dunk case.
No medical MJ cards, nothing to use for evidence.

I really do not see an issue with this as long as they change the federal law. People are going to make stupid choices regardless of this being federally legal or not.

I would like to see a bill like this pass. I know a couple of guys that have medical cards for chronic pain and they can not own firearms. However, alcoholics and people on prescription anti-psychotics, pain killers, anti-depressants can... It does not make sense to me.

The only way it will happen is if the DEA changes marijuana to a schedule 2 drug or less. As long as it is a schedule 1, it will never happen. All they have to do is say there is a medical use for it.
