Best powder for .223/5.56

For me h335 has been my go to powder for 223 great metering

Varget, h335, BLC2, CCFE223 are my go to powders.
I've always had good success with these powders and up to 75 grain projectiles.

I've used several jugs of Ramshot TAC from 55-75gr in .223. Meters well and shoots clean, accuracy is fine

What loads are you using with RL15? Do you use it for 55 & 62 grain projectiles?

I use RL15 for 308 but never thought of using it for 223. I’d love to consolidate powders if I can. Especially since I’m almost out of H335

Ramshot TAC works gud for me. Also 4198 is a good stick powder. Extruded powders can meter oddly but some old fat guy on Youtube told me thats NBD

223 case prep can be a bitch. I'll break down my process which does NOT involve any manual fiddling about or using that silly case prep center they sell (verr SLow). i assume you got a tumbler n all that other jazz. wet stainless tumbling is for neckbeards i dont get it :emoji:

(1) possum hollow case trimmer with drill attachment
(1) can wd40
(1) 45 degree countersink bit HSS. I use Irwin. It needs to be for metal (the wood ones dont work well)
(1-2) slave labor. i use children
(1-3) electric drivers/drill. I use dewalt impact drill/drivers cuz zoom zoom
(1-3) non dominant hand working glove (optional)

Put some Smallville or something equally semi-interesting but not too engaging(!) on the telly. At one workstation you trim the cases. Zoop-Zoop supa fast with the possum hollow type trimmer. Spray some WD40 in there every few minutes to cool, lube and clean the cutter. Next slave labor station needs to have a slightly detail oriented laborer bc this is the "swage" and chamfer stage. Using the 45 deg countersink bit, and a little trial and error, cut the crimp out of the primer pockets and LIGHTLY chamfer the case mouth. keep going until you run out of brass or your labor force starts getting hand cramps!
As the overse...As the QC guy you should spot check the brass for proper lengths and cuts, etc

Then you throw all that shit back in the tumbler bc deburring is for cowards and or old people.

:lol: The kind of thing you might stop and watch if you're flipping through channels, but that you would never intentionally turn on any other given day.

People seem to really like Varget, but I read it does better in longer barrels only. I picked up some CFE 223 since people seemed to like it in 10"+ barrels. I wanted to run it in my 10.3" MK18 and my 17" RDB, so hopefully I made a good choice.

I also have some blc-2 powder has anyone use that for 223 or is that just a 308 powder

i have been using winchester 748 for years. i have tried other powders but always went back to 748.

Same here. It preforms better, for me at least, than many of the other powders suggested.
