Unfortunately when you go every other bay that means you have 20 people spread out all over the place. That would take a lot of range master to be on station.

Why?

There isn't a 1:1 ratio. Rio usually has 3-5 RO's working the main range, even when every bench is full. Only utilizing every other bench means shooters are 6 feet apart instead of 3. This doesn't affect the number or efficacy of the RO's at all.

How fast can those RO's run. You get them spread out to much it will be hard to stop them from doing stupid things.

So, your suggesting that at Rio Salado when all 32 benches are being used, that there is an RO behind every shooter watching every shot being fired, at all times?

No not at all. Have you ever been to Rio when you walk in and they have only half of their tables open? That means they only have enough RO's to cover those tables. If all the tables are open then they have enough RO's to cover those tables I hope. I would say 1 RO for 4 to 6 tables. That is when you are using them all. If you are going every other one, I would say 1 RO for every 3 tables. JMO

Time to go to the desert

If only it were that easy. Right about now is when the gov't tells you it's not safe to shoot in the desert because of those crazy wildfires we get here in the Phoenix area every year. Remember those? Yeah, either do I. However, fire restrictions are real and if you're caught shooting during them, you'll potentially be in some serious shit. Ask me how I know.

If no one has noticed, this is all about control. And no, It's not Blue vs Red it's THEM vs Us.

Right now there are no restrictions but I'd keep checking this site, just in case.

I agree with Joel

Him and I found a nice desert spot, a little was north of Ben Avery. It’s fairly easy to get there and we have only seen people there a couple of times. They where out exploring and not shooting.

You are right there are no restrictions at this time. When there are, I always follow the laws and regulations. I’d hate to be the one that started a wildfire. The weather is nice and no restrictions. Go enjoy!

Might go into the desert this weekend, wondering how many snowflakes with be out there with their new blasters, now that could be a unsafe .... thinking crossfire.

just be prepared to return fire,

If this is closed, how do the general BLM locations in NW lake pleasant or North Phx (table Mesa) look? Are these desert locations just jammed full by mid/late morning?

Every other bay was my thought as well, if fact that would be nice. I always hate getting a table next to an AR-15 with a brake....when that happens I pull out and shoot my AR-10 with a brake. :o

Lol... anytime I bring my kids to shoot with me there, I almost inevitably get the table next to some guy with a 300WM and a muzzle brake on it.

Can't stand shooting right next to them; ugh. Not pleasant and it has really turned my kids off. If there are more tables, I always ask to be relocated, but often it's too packed, or we end up next to someone else that has a brake. They are much more prevalent now than they were 10 years ago, it seems.

I'm with you on the muzzle brake issue or the guy with 1000 rounds to shoot. When you ask to relocate to another table, they say, this is a shooting range.

I think the reason it's closed is because the volunteer range masters are afraid to get sick. The one told me he didn't want to be there.

jledman, that's interesting about the guys being afraid to get sick because the ones at C2 Tactical and Rio Salado Shotgun range seem to be the opposite. They don't seem to be at all worried about it.

I have a brake on my 308 AIAW and my 308 Les Baer Match Sniper. When ever I go to the range I try to find a bench that has empty benches around it. I always get to the range early and bring AR's with no brake. If the range get crowded I take out a rifle with no brake.

The last several times I've gone, I've been next to guys that have suppressors... however, they have them removed, so they're shooting their operated out 10.3" AR with a 3 port brake just to "piss everyone off". That's what one of them told me.

Good to know some people care about their neighbors and want others to have an enjoyable time. Thank you and take care!

There are people whose sole purpose in life is to serve as a bad example to others.

That is why I am glad I am usually off on weekdays, normally there is very few people at Ben Avery on wed and thurs.

Agreed. Weds/Thurs are the best days. Get there early, and people are actually sociable, and having fun.
